Operation HOPE 2013

As the devastating flood waters of 2013 ripped through Canmore and down through the foothills before reaching Calgary, the people of Stoney Nation, their homes and their community were dealt a huge blow. Hundreds of homes were flooded and families displaced. Many lost everything. With Christmas mere weeks away, the food bank is calling on Stoney’s neighbours across Southern Al

berta to help out and make donations of food, Christmas gifts and warm clothing. It’s been a hard time for the children especially. So many aren’t in their homes. They lost their clothes and all their toys… their keepsakes. Let’s give them something special at Christmas. Participating in Operation HOPE is easy. Organize your neighbours, school classrooms, workplace or school and put a call out for donations: food items, toys or small gifts for children, teens and elders, and winter clothing/boots for all ages. Then load up the gifts and take a weekend drive to Morley (25 minutes from the City limits). Donations to the Stoney Nakoda Food Bank will gratefully be accepted on Saturday, December 14, 2013 and Sunday, December 15, 2013 between 11 am and 3 pm each day at the Chiniki CCAP Centre. To get to the centre take the Trans Canada Hwy west out of Calgary until you hit the Morley Road turn off. Stay right and travel north until you see a log house on the left hand side of the road (just before the fire department). The log house is the Centre. Financial donations accepted by mailing a cheque to PO Box 1048 Morley, AB T0L1N0.
