Come spend an evening with us learning how to make one of Canada's most beloved treats — the butter tart!

This special class will be taught by J’aime’s mom, who is visiting with three of her five sisters, making this a true family baking experience. Together, they'll share their favourite recipes, tips, and techniques for creating delicious homemade tarts.

✨You'll learn to make:
• Classic Butter Tarts (no raisins!)
• Coconut Butter Tarts with J’aime’s Aunt Karen

We'll demonstrate how to make pastry dough from scratch, but to make sure we get to the fun part (and finish in about 1–1.5 hours), we'll be working with dough that the sisters have prepared in advance. You'll still learn the process while getting hands-on experience rolling, filling, and baking your tarts.

📅Registration closes one week before the class (midnight, June 22nd) so we can purchase supplies.

✅Minimum 4 participants
✅ No maximum participants

If interest exceeds our oven capacity, we'll simply move into the main studio space. Feel free to bring your own muffin tin or tart pan and take your assembled tarts home to bake at your convenience.

Whether you're a seasoned baker or have never made pastry before, this is a fun opportunity to learn family recipes, pick up some baking tips, and enjoy an evening of good company.

Come hang out with us and learn how to make delicious butter tarts!

The epitome of gorgeous, that’s what this is! Imagine capturing your memories in this resin beach tray. You will start with a wood tray that you will paint. Darlene will teach you how to blend the acrylic colours to create the sea floor. Once that is done, you will add shells, sand, etc. to create the shore. The final step is to cover everything in resin and add white ink for the waves.

Supplies are included in your cost, but if you have some small sea shells, sea glass or the like that you have collected on your own travels, please feel free to bring them with you!

There are only 4 spots available.

Ages 13+.

The process will take 2 - 3 hours.

Learn some new techniques and go home with a project you can use!

***Please note, we will be doing this class in the Glass Studio so we are in the basement of the Anglican Church. You must be able to navigate stairs.

Registration for this class closes midnight, June 24th.

About the Artist

Apparently, I have been making art messes since I was 3 years old. Although I learned my art mediums mostly by trial and error, I did achieve some formal training: Diploma in Graphic Design, 1 year fashion Design and a Certificate in Interior Decorating. As well, I have attended many Art workshops.

I have tried many, many, forms of art through the years, but I always come back to Acrylic & Watercolor. I have been instructing these mediums for over 25 yrs and Stained Glass for about 15.

It's my passion, to see others become passionate about creating! I own a studio at Rocanville where I offer private Art lessons and Paint Parties and some retail art supplies. When I get a minute or two, I even create my own art. I am thrilled to be a part of MVAC and for the opportunity to share my experience with others.

Fill out the form in the link below to register for the 6PM class. Registration is not complete until payment is received.

Please include in the “memo” portion of your e-transfer payment the name of the person attending the class and the name of the class.

It's just a few days away . . .

☀️Looking for sunshine and lovely weather for this one! Join us Wednesday, June 3rd from 7:00 to 9:00ish . . . select your ceramic piece to paint and join in on the fun, the relaxation and the conversations (a.k.a. giggles)!

☔We will be painting with acrylic paints in the Creation Space of MVAC and finishing our pieces with a sealant. We’ll have 2 hours to select and paint our pieces so we can take them home with us at the end of the night!

🌼Our studio fee is $10. Your cost will be the $10 + the price of the ceramics + GST. The price of the ceramics differs, depending on the size of the piece you choose. Payment will be expected before you begin painting your chosen piece of ceramics, but not at the time of registration.

🌱We provide the ceramic piece, the paint, the sealer and the tools to “get ‘er dun”. You provide the creative vision and manpower!!

This party’s theme: Spring and Summer

🌷Due to the demand for this activity and the size of our Creation Space size, we are limited to 20 participants, aged 6 and up.

🪻Follow the link below to save your spot in our eleventh Ceramic Paint Party.

👒Participants aged 6 - 12 must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Non-registered adults will not be able to work on their own ceramics piece. To register, adults must complete their own registration form.
