Support Committee for 1856 Moose Jaw Schools Army Cadets

Support Committee for 1856 Moose Jaw Schools Army Cadets We are a group of volunteers under the umbrellas of the Army Cadet Leagues of Saskatchewan and Canada. This is not a Canadian Armed Forces Website.

The 1856 Moose Jaw Schools Army Cadet Support Committee is a group of dedicated volunteers that support the growth and functioning of the 1856 Moose Jaw School Army Cadets.
**please note this is an unofficial Cadet website** We work together with the staff of the 1856 Army Cadet Corp to ensure our cadets have the resources they need to grow within the National Cadet Program. The committee is ope

n to anyone interested in growing the army cadet program, and meets at the DV Currie Armoury during the first Cadet meeting of each month.

**This is an unofficial Cadet website that is not intended to represent, in any way, the policies or procedures of either the Department of National Defense, the Canadian Armed Forces, or the Cadet Leagues of Canada. The website is maintained on behalf of the 1856 Moose Jaw Army Cadets' Support Committee for the intended use of the Cadets, their parents, and other supporters of the 1856 Moose Jaw Army Cadets. The objective is to provide basic information about the function of the corps and to inform Cadets, parents and the local community about the Cadet Program, and the various events that will be taking place with the 1856 Moose Jaw Army Cadets.**

What an honour it is to parade with these amazing youth. Their dedication to the Corps, to themselves, and to the community is inspirational. People sat a little taller and smiled a little brighter as you went by. We are so proud of all you!

Huge thanks to Wanda Robinson-Cave, Crystal, and Heather Marie for helping out last night (and all year), Gina L. McKerricher thank you for your willingness to come out, you were missed! Become a member of the 1856 Support Committee and you can help these kids too! Give as much or as little help as you're able; it takes a village to raise the Corps! 💚
(Better pics to follow 😁).

Shout out to everyone that was able to come to Decoration day today in Moose Jaw. Decoration Day is an important tradition to remember those who are currently serving and those who served before. May we continue the year with hope and gratitude.

The cadets have been working SO hard to prepare for ACR. There's a protocol to everything the cadets do, and these cadets have learned it! This is a practice run on how to receive an award/promotion - they were practicing receiving a flag pole (like the one the arrow is pointing to!) 🤣!

Annual Ceremonial Review (ACR) is like a school graduation. It's a chance to show off skills, inspire each other, and celebrate! Join us tomorrow, guests seated for 9:30am, DV Curry VC Armoury.

Our Annual Ceremonial Review (ACR) is this Saturday! ACR is a mandatory, end-of-year parade where Cadets showcase skills, drill, and training to family and community. It features award presentations and a review of the year's accomplishments, requiring polished uniforms and sharp drill.

It's a fabulous day to celebrate the accomplishments of these amazing youth! Join us! Seated for 9:30am, hotdogs, beans, and cake for lunch!

What a great way to be a part of cadet history!

Such a fabulous day in Estevan! The Army Cadet League of Saskatchewan, 2901 Estevan Army Cadet Support Committee, and Estevan Legion #60 hosted an amazing day of learning and comradery.

After reviewing the battle on a giant map, we were invited to reflect on various art and poetry from the time, followed by lunch and a ceremony at the cenetaph.

Thank you to all involved in making this day happen for our Cadets!

Such an honour to participate in our annual Mess Dinner. Mess Dinner is an important Canadian military tradition that builds comradery and celebrates the successes within a unit. This year we were "piped in" on chanters by our own Pipe band, and had Major Paul Park (CO Saskatchewan Dragoons) as our honoured guest. Other guests at the head table included our Pipe Major, representives from the Legion, Friends of the Forces, and Army Cadet League.

Our Cadets became part of Canadian military history as they partipated in honoured traditions like passing of the port (cranberry juice), toasts, ceremonial marches, and holding space for those soldiers that never came home. For many Cadets this was the first opportunity to see an elaborate place setting ("which fork do I use?!").

Huge thanks to Captain Cutts, CI Hrisook, and CV Hrisook, and the rest of the amazing 1856 staff for preparing the event; for Gord and staff with Sodexo at the base dining hall for setting up, preparing and serving the fabulous meal; and to our Support Committee and all parents and Cadets that participate in fundraising!

(Photo from a Mess Dinner elsewhere that greatly resembles our own tables; hopefully we can get some photos of our event to post!).
