We speak for Canadians of Hellenic heritage and their communities and organizations on matters of education, cultural, social, economic and national Hellenic issues. The Congress is a non-for-profit, democratic communal institution, member-funded organization representing more than 250,000 Hellenic-Canadians and their associations and societies from coast-to-coast. The Congress was established und
er the Canada Corporations Act and is continued under the authority of the Canada Not-For-Profit Corporations Act. The Congress serves as a link between individuals, communities, associations and societies and governments, including non-governmental bodies. We are dedicated to working for and on behalf of Canadian Hellenes across Canada and advocate for the highest standards of citizenship and professional excellence, democratic ethos, human rights, and civil responsibility. We believe that in unity there is strength and through strength we can make changes for the betterment of all peoples. The objects of the Congress include: • To advance and promote Hellenism, Democracy, Human Rights and Civic Responsibility
• To foster unity, represent and promote the interests of Hellenes in Canada
• To enhance solidarity and unity among Hellenic communities and their organizations throughout Canada
• To facilitate and ensure the continuity and development of Hellenic culture, language, custom, tradition, spiritual and social heritage in Canada
• To encourage and assist in the creative development of Hellenic language, social and cultural life throughout Canada
• To promote and support Hellenic education and the development of Hellenic values
• To facilitate and ensure Hellenic continuity and transmittal of Hellenic legacy from one generation to another.
• To assist Hellenic communities in strengthening their Hellenic identities
• To foster, support and participate in inter-cultural dialogue
• To represent, advocate and act on behalf of the Hellenic communities and their organizations and the Hellenes in general before government institutions and authorities.
• To promote and encourage the involvement of Hellenic Canadians in public affairs.
• To facilitate the establishment and operation of educational, cultural, social and medical institutions and community centres in order to meet the needs of children, families and seniors.
