Canadian Hellenic Congress Canadian Hellenic Congress (Congress) has been the Voice of Hellenism in Canada since 1982.

We speak for Canadians of Hellenic heritage and their communities and organizations on matters of education, cultural, social, economic and national Hellenic issues. The Congress is a non-for-profit, democratic communal institution, member-funded organization representing more than 250,000 Hellenic-Canadians and their associations and societies from coast-to-coast. The Congress was established und

er the Canada Corporations Act and is continued under the authority of the Canada Not-For-Profit Corporations Act. The Congress serves as a link between individuals, communities, associations and societies and governments, including non-governmental bodies. We are dedicated to working for and on behalf of Canadian Hellenes across Canada and advocate for the highest standards of citizenship and professional excellence, democratic ethos, human rights, and civil responsibility. We believe that in unity there is strength and through strength we can make changes for the betterment of all peoples. The objects of the Congress include: • To advance and promote Hellenism, Democracy, Human Rights and Civic Responsibility
• To foster unity, represent and promote the interests of Hellenes in Canada
• To enhance solidarity and unity among Hellenic communities and their organizations throughout Canada
• To facilitate and ensure the continuity and development of Hellenic culture, language, custom, tradition, spiritual and social heritage in Canada
• To encourage and assist in the creative development of Hellenic language, social and cultural life throughout Canada
• To promote and support Hellenic education and the development of Hellenic values
• To facilitate and ensure Hellenic continuity and transmittal of Hellenic legacy from one generation to another.
• To assist Hellenic communities in strengthening their Hellenic identities
• To foster, support and participate in inter-cultural dialogue
• To represent, advocate and act on behalf of the Hellenic communities and their organizations and the Hellenes in general before government institutions and authorities.
• To promote and encourage the involvement of Hellenic Canadians in public affairs.
• To facilitate the establishment and operation of educational, cultural, social and medical institutions and community centres in order to meet the needs of children, families and seniors.

Εχθές στην πρωτεύουσα του Καναδά Ottawa στην αίθουσα εκδηλώσεων της Ελληνικής Κοινότητας, για την ανάληψη της Προεδρίας της Κύπρου στην Ευρωπαϊκή Ένωση, η Κυπριακή Πρεσβεία, έκανε εκδήλωση με παρουσία πολλών αντιπροσώπων από άλλες πρεσβείες, το Ελληνοκαναδικο Κογκρέσο, και άλλων Ελληνικών φορέων.

Canadian Hellenic Congress Condemns Bondi Beach, Australia Terrorist Attack

A terrible act of anti-Semitic terrorism befell upon a Hanukkah event Sunday, December 14, 2025 at Bondi Beach in Sydney, Australia. Fifteen souls tragically and needlessly lost their lives and dozens more were severely injured and hospitalised. Their only crime was that they were peacefully practising their religious rituals.

Everyone has the right to practice their religion peacefully, with love and goodwill towards all humanity. Inciting violence and acting violently have no place in the practice of religion.

The Canadian Hellenic Congress (CHC) unequivocally condemns this barbaric terrorist attack and calls upon religious and government leaders around the world to take measures to stop violence in the name of religion; actions are needed, not just words…

The CHC expresses its deepest condolences to the families and friends of the victims. May their memory be eternal…

It also sincerely hopes for speedy and full recoveries for those injured.

On this day… and always... let us take a moment to remember and honour all those who have served their country during times of war.

They fought courageously and sacrificed their lives so that we can live in freedom and peace. By remembering and appreciating the values they fought for, we ensure that their memory lives on eternally...

May they rest in everlasting peace...

Let us also thank the veterans who are still with us.

Πολέμησαν γενναία και θυσίασαν τη ζωή τους για να μπορέσουμε εμείς να ζήσουμε με ελευθερία και ειρήνη. Θυμούμενοι και εκτιμώντας τις αξίες για τις οποίες πολέμησαν, διασφαλίζουμε ότι η μνήμη τους θα ζει για πάντα...

CHC’S WREATH-LAYING CEREMONY TO COMMEMORATE THE ANNIVERSARIES OF OCTOBER 28, 1940 – “OXI” DAY – AND OCTOBER 26, 1912 – THE LIBERATION OF THESSALONIKI / ΤΕΛΕΤΗ ΚΑΤΑΘΕΣΗΣ ΣΤΕΦΑΝΟΥ ΤΟΥ ΕΚΚ ΠΡΟΣ ΤΙΜΗ ΤΗΣ ΕΘΝΙΚΗΣ ΕΠΕΤΕΙΟΥ ΤΗΣ 28ΗΣ ΟΚΤΩΒΡΙΟΥ 1940 ΚΑΙ ΤΗΣ ΕΠΕΤΕΙΟΥ ΤΗΣ 26ΗΣ ΟΚΤΩΒΡΙΟΥ 1912 – ΑΠΕΛΕΥΘΕΡΩΣΗΣ ΤΗΣ ΘΕΣΣΑΛΟΝΙΚΗΣ

Με μεγάλη επιτυχία διεξήχθη το περασμένο Σάββατο η τιμητική εκδήλωση του ΕΚΚ για τις επετείους της 26ης Οκτωβρίου 1912 και της 28ης Οκτωβρίου 1940. Το ΕΚΚ ευχαριστεί όλους τους συμπατριώτες μας που συμμετείχαν μαζί μας στην τελετή κατάθεσης στεφάνου για να αποτίσουμε φόρο τιμής στους πεσόντες ήρωες μας. Με ιδιαίτερη τιμή παρευρεθήκαμε επίσης στην Δοξολογία στον Ιερό Ναό του Τιμίου Σταυρού την περασμένη Κυριακή και στο τιμητικό γεύμα που ακολούθησε, διοργανωμένο από την Ελληνική Κοινότητα Μείζονος Μοντρεάλ με τη υποστήριξη του Γενικού Προξενείου της Ελλάδας στο Μοντρεάλ.

The CHC’s event, last Saturday, commemorating the October 26th 1912 – Liberation of Thessaloniki – and the October 28th 1940 – “OXI” Day anniversaries was held with great success. The CHC thanks all our fellow compatriots who joined us for the wreath-laying ceremony to pay tribute to our fallen heroes. We were also honored to attend the Doxology at Holy Cross Church last Sunday, as well as, the commemorative luncheon that followed, organised by the Hellenic Community of Greater Montreal in collaboration with the General Consulate of Greece in Montreal.
