Ciné-Asie was formerly founded by Mi-Jeong Lee, artist and researcher on Asian culture and arts in 1996, and transformed as Arts East-West in 2021. The 7th Edition of the Korean Film Festival Canada (KFFCanada) will take place online from October 29 to November 2, 2020. This year’s theme is "Narrative Beyond Borders: Women Directors of Korean New Wave Cinema." This rich theme will be further examined next year, in Part Two of this series. To further explore the festival’s theme, a conference will be organized.

Wonderful news from our community!

Arts East-West is proud to share that our participation in the South Korean Business Mission led by the Mayor of Montreal, has received full funding from the Canada Council for the Arts!

From March 16 to 20, 2026, Artistic Director Mi-Jeong Lee took part in a business mission led by the Ville de Montreal, the Conseil des arts de Montreal, and the Chamber of Commerce of Metropolitan Montreal, including more than 30 arts organisations in Montreal. Mi-Jeong Lee represented Arts East-West in this important business mission to boost Korean-Canadian relations.

This crucial funding allows us to continue our mission: connecting Asian-Montreal and Asian-Canadian artists to local, national, and international stages, with a special focus on pan-Asian and South Korean exchanges. Our organisation continues to grow and showcase the importance of Korean and Asian arts in the Canadian landscape.

We extend our deepest gratitude to the Canada Council for the Arts, the Mayor of Montreal, and all partner organizations for making this milestone possible. We welcome fellow artists and cultural organizations to connect with us as we develop future projects in this sphere!

We acknowledge the support of the Canada Council for the Arts.
