This year is the first time in almost 25 years that I haven’t returned to Cuba. 🇨🇺
And honestly… my heart feels it.
Looking through these photos from last year — kids skateboarding, 🛹 playing soccer ⚽️ in El Prado, laughing in the middle of hardship — reminds me why I fell in love with the people of Cuba in the first place. Their resilience is unmatched.
But resilience should not mean having to survive without the basics of dignity.
No family should have to struggle daily for electricity, food, or stability.
The world cannot forget the Cuban people.
In these photos is Jorge, our Skateboards For Hope ambassador, standing proudly beside the graffiti wall. For years, he has continued helping the skateboard community however he can — encouraging youth, sharing what little he has, and keeping hope alive through community.
While we haven’t been able to travel there this year, we continue supporting Jorge, families, and local neighborhoods the best way we can.
Sometimes helping isn’t loud.
Sometimes it’s simply refusing to look away.
Cuba, we haven’t forgotten you. 🇨🇺❤️
