REISA - The East Island Network for English Language Services, a community organization, works to increase access to health and social services in English for residents of Montreal’s east and north end, through collaboration with public, private and community stakeholders. REISA has supported community development in various fields including addiction, drug awareness and prevention, family counselling and mediation, the creation of student training sites in the community, seniors activity groups and empowerment as well as community health education.

REISA is looking for a Early Childhood Storyteller for our Mini-library program 🌷

REISA’s Mini-library program encourages literacy amongst 4–5-year-olds. REISA has partnered with two daycares in the borough of Rivière-des-Prairies, Les Amis de Don Bosco to offer this program. The Early Childhood Storyteller will be animating 15 sessions of 30 minutes in total, starting in November 2025 until March 2026. The Storyteller will have the support of REISA’s Early Childhood Coordinator when needed. During the sessions, the Storyteller will be:

🌸Singing nursery rhymes;

🌸Reading one book aloud to the group (one week in English and one week in French);

🌸Encouraging the children to speak about the book they borrowed the previous week; who was the main character, what was the story about; what did they like about the book;

🌸Helping the children pick out new books to borrow;

🌸If there is time, having them color a drawing or watch a fun, child-friendly exercise video on YouTube.

Valued Qualifications:

🌷Experience working with young children, in a school, day camp or daycare setting

🌷Fluent in English and French

🌷Ability to speak clearly, with expressive tone and animation

🌷Ability to manage and adapt activities based on group dynamics

🌷Has rhythm and musicality

🌷Studied in Early Childhood or Child Studies

🌷CPR certification

Compensation:

REISA is offering $50/session (30-min prep and 30-min animation)

REISA is seeking an intern to support our Needs Assessment project.

This is a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in community-based research, project planning, and public health while contributing to improved English-language social and health services in Montréal’s East and North ends.

Role highlights:
• Participate in research, planning, and outreach activities.
• Collaborate on survey development, outreach planning, and project preparation.
• Develop skills in public health, research, and community programming.

Ideal candidate:
• Currently enrolled in or recently completed studies in Public Health, Social Work, Human Relations, or related fields.
• Strong research, writing, and organizational skills required.
• Advanced English; intermediate French.
• Knowledge of Montréal’s East and North communities is an asset.

Key details:
• Duration: September 2026–August 2027 (timeline flexible)
• Hybrid: work from home and REISA’s Saint-Léonard office
• Unpaid academic placement (eligible for school credit)
• Monthly transit pass stipend, reference letter, and confirmation of hours

REISA is looking to connect with English-speaking residents of Bordeaux-Cartierville, Montréal-Nord and Rosemont for upcoming Community Consultations.

These small-group conversations are an opportunity to share your experiences, perspectives and ideas about your community. We want to better understand what it’s like to live, work, access services and build connections in your borough; including what’s working well, what challenges you may face, and what you’d like to see in the future.

Your input will help us create borough portraits: community snapshots that highlight the experiences, strengths, needs and priorities of English-speaking residents in each borough. These portraits help REISA and our community partners better understand the communities we serve.

What can you expect?
Community Consultations are relaxed, guided group conversations. There are no right or wrong answers. We simply want to hear your perspective and learn from your experiences.

Your privacy matters.
All consultations are anonymous. What you share will only be used to help us understand community experiences and develop the borough portraits. We are not collecting information for any other purpose.
