L’amélioration de la prise en charge cardiaque à l’Hôpital général de Montréal grâce à la philanthropie

Grâce à la vision et à la générosité de la Fondation de la famille Robert Elvidge, l'Hôpital général de Montréal dispose aujourd’hui d'une technologie innovante en cardiologie.

Ce don a permis de financer les cathéters d’ablation par champ pulsé (PFA) spécialisés nécessaires à la technologie Abbott Volt, qui rend certaines interventions cardiaques plus rapides, moins invasives et plus sécuritaires.

Le Dr Atul Verma, directeur de la Division de cardiologie du CUSM, a ainsi réalisé avec succès la toute première intervention clinique au Canada à l'aide de cet outil.

Merci à la famille Robert Elvidge, ainsi qu'à tous nos donateurs, qui rendent possibles des avancées comme celle-ci et font avancer les soins de santé ici, à Montréal.

Improving cardiac care at the Montreal General Hospital through philanthropy

Thanks to the vision and generosity of the Robert Elvidge Family Foundation, the Montreal General Hospital now has access to innovative new cardiology technology.

Their gift supports specialized catheters required for Abbott's Volt Pulsed Field Ablation (PFA) technology, helping make certain cardiac procedures faster, less invasive and safer.

Dr. Atul Verma, Director of the MUHC Division of Cardiology, has since successfully performed the first clinical procedure in Canada using this technology.

Le 19 septembre dernier, sous un soleil radieux, Le canal Lachine a vibré au rythme des pagaies ! 🚣‍♀️

L'équipe de la Fondation de l’Hôpital Général de Montréal participait à la 21e édition de la course de bateaux-dragons CanSupport des Cèdres BDO, organisée par la Fondation du cancer des Cèdres.

Grâce à la mobilisation de tous, l'objectif de 600 000 $ a été atteint ! Ces fonds serviront à améliorer la qualité de vie des patients atteints de cancer du CUSM et de leurs proches.

Nous sommes fiers d'avoir pagayé aux côtés de la Fondation du cancer des Cèdres, notre partenaire de la campagne Unis contre le cancer. Ensemble, nous transformons les soins en santé !

On September 19, under a bright sun, the Lachine Canal came alive to the rhythm of paddles slicing through the water! 🚣‍♀️

The Montreal General Hospital Foundation team took part in the 21st edition of the Cedars CanSupport BDO Dragon Boat Race, organized by the Cedars Cancer Foundation.

Thanks to everyone's collective effort, the $600,000 goal was reached! These funds will help improve the quality of life of MUHC cancer patients and their families.

🎯 Three Institute and MUHC projects selected for Canada's first Digital Health Innovation Fund!

Dr. Alan Forster, Dr. Ahmed Aoude and Dr. David Buckeridge are among 14 pan-Canadian teams chosen for this national fund, led by the Terry Fox Research Institute through its Digital Health & Discovery Platform (DHDP) — a $49M push to bring AI and health data together for better care.

Their projects:
🔹 Dr. Forster — building a synthetic data network linking hospitals across Canada
🔹 Dr. Aoude — real-time bone cancer detection through AI-powered imaging
🔹 Dr. Buckeridge — stronger medication safety through data interoperability
