Foundation 64 - F64

Foundation 64 - F64 We create visuals for both non-profit and for profit organisations who have a mandate to empower, protect and educate women and children.

Inspired by Aydin Matlabi a humanitarian photographer. What Matlabi noticed was that the stories being told from the main media were never utilized by the individuals being covered. The subject was used to tell and sell stories, with no gain for the actual victims or institutions who were making a difference. The stories and visuals were edited, narrated and created for a western audience. Any or

all financial gain never reached the individuals in need. What Matlabi started doing was creating visuals in relation to the victims, who willingly participated as partners. Thereafter, the visuals were utilized for the specific NGO or organization to raise more money via marketing, media sales and visibility. The name Foundation 64 was inspired by the photography group in the late 1920s and early 1930s. During this time of substantial social and economic unrest in the United States, these photographers explored and documented the hard reality of the depression. Using large format cameras, they opened their focal points to the maximum aperture which was F64. This setting causes everything in the frame to be in focus, forcing the photographer to be patient during the photo session. This inevitably led to longer sessions allowing greater trust and meaningful connection to be established with the subject. Foundation 64 follows this same path, but globally. We need your support, to share these stories, to help us reach a larger audience, and to make sure hope is never silenced.
