Montreal Raging Grannies

Montreal Raging Grannies Singing out loud & out-RAGE-ously for
peace, social justice and the environment. This film will multiply the impact of their message.

ABOUT THE MONTREAL RAGING GRANNIES

In 1989 several peace and justice activists in Montreal formed a chapter of the Raging Grannies. Having seen the Victoria Raging Grannies in action they liked the way they used humour to get their message across. Like all Raging Grannies they take the issues they rage about very seriously but not themselves. That is pretty obvious when you see how they dress –

outrageously as they sing their satirical songs whenever and wherever they deem it necessary. The object is to bring awareness to human rights violations, wars, degradation of the environment, lack of indigenous rights, Free Trade Agreements and violence of all kinds. The ages of the grannies range from early 60’s to mid ‘80’s and what keeps them raging is the feeling of empowerment and the desire to leave this earth in a better state not only for their own grandchildren but for children everywhere. They were very honoured to learn Magnus Issacson was making a documentary of the movement. As Margaret Meade said ‘ ‘Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.'
