ow little information was available. The history of the sacrifice of so many Canadians seemed lost. Operation Husky 2013 began in the summer of 2006. Seven years later on the 70th anniversary of the the landings a group of Canadians walked across Sicily placing markers to the fallen near where they fell. During the walk, 25 ceremonies were held in towns along our path, one monument was placed in Pachino and four plaques were placed in key towns, a roll-call was held at the Agira Cemetery and a re-creation of the famous Seaforth Highlander concert was held in Agira on July 30th. As a legacy three documentaries and two books were published. The events were repeated in 2018. This time, the 1st Canadian Division sent a group of 20 troops, lead by Col Jim Davis. In 2023, to mark the 80th anniversary of the landings a small group will walk the path again and will be joined by a civilian tour in the last week of the July. Join us in Sicily in 2023.
