We successfully introduced our first ‘Barbershop Sundays’ with good vibes, good music and satisfied customers. We welcome and give a warm thank you to our barber, John Kinsha, for offering his time and talented services in support of the seafarers’ community.
The next ‘Barbershop Sundays’ will be held on Oct 11th and 25th, from 2pm to 5pm, at the Montreal Seafarers Centre and, of course, free of charge to all the seafarers traveling through the Port of Montreal.
Nous avons organisé avec succès notre premier « Barbershop Sundays », dans une ambiance conviviale, au son d’une bonne musique et avec des clients ravis. Nous souhaitons la bienvenue à notre coiffeur, John Kinsha, et le remercions chaleureusement d’avoir offert son temps et ses talents au service de la communauté des marins.
Les prochains « Barbershop Sundays » auront lieu les 11 et 25 octobre, de 14 h à 17 h, au Centre des marins de Montréal et, bien sûr, seront gratuits pour tous les marins de passage au port de Montréal.

Sights from last week...Father Benjamin, pictured with crew members from Scenic Eclipse, held a mass for seafarers celebrating Feast of Stella Maris and World Maritime Day.

Thanks to The Blanket Lady, we gave out more quilts to:
- Orville Godoy, Provision manager on Scenic Eclipse
- Benny Mugot, Fitter on Scenic Eclipse
- Genaro Achicoso, Assistant Inventory Manager, Scenic Eclipse
- Van Cloyd B. Roquid, an AB from Arica Express received a quilted pillow

We also gave a quilt to Mahmud, a retired seafarer who is working as an agent in Montreal.

As usual, free snacks were a hit on World Maritime Day.

Aujourd'hui nous avons reçu une belle visite de Dominique, du Port de Bayonne dans les Pyrénées-Atlantiques en France. Nous avons fait visiter le Centre des marins à elle et à son ami montréalais, Alain, et nous avons échangé des idées et des pratiques. Nous faisons partie d'une grande famille vouée au bien-être des gens de mer. C'est incroyable de voir comment l'on peut passer de la rencontre d'un inconnu à l'accolade d'un ami en une seule visite.

Today we had a lovely visit with Dominique from the Port of Bayonne in Pyrénées-Atlantiques, France. Along with her Montreal friend, Alain, we gave them a tour of the Seafarers' Centre and shared ideas and practices with one another. We are a part of a large seafarer welfare family. It's amazing how you can go from meeting a stranger to hugging a friend in the space of one visit.

Congratulations to Wojtek Jakubiec on obtaining his 4B bus license. We now have another driver who can pick up more seafarers, just in time for our busy season. Thanks, Wojtek!

Félicitations à Wojtek pour l'obtention de son permis d'autobus 4B. Nous avons maintenant un autre chauffeur qui peut transporter davantage de marins, juste à temps pour la haute saison. Merci, Wojtek!

La Fédération maritime du Canada a généreusement mis de côté les fonds générés par son récent atelier pour les marins, au cours duquel un panel a été organisé sur l& #39;impact de la technologie sur le bien-être des marins. Capitaine Chris Hall, président-directeur général de la Fédération maritime, a remis ce don très apprécié à Carolyn Osborne, directrice générale de la Maison des marins de Montréal.

The Shipping Federation of Canada generously set aside funds generated from its recent Mariners’ Workshop, where a panel was held on the impact of technology on seafarers’ welfare. Captain Chris Hall, President and CEO of the Shipping Federation, presented this very welcome donation to Carolyn Osborne, General Manager of Mariners’ House of Montreal.
