Half the Sky (Quebec)

Half the Sky (Quebec) is a Montreal-based citizens group dedicated to raising awareness and facilitating action to end human trafficking and the forced exploitation of women, men and children. Vision:
Inspired by the book of the same name, Half the Sky Quebec envisions a world where the rights of women and men are equally respected and upheld; where the unique and valuable perspectives of both are

represented at all levels of society-from family to parliament; where the oppression of women is rightfully prosecuted and ultimately eradicated. Mission:
Half the Sky Quebec will raise awareness and encourage action through partnership with like-minded individuals, organizations and lawmakers to facilitate the required systemic change to end violence against women and create real gender equity. Mandate:
Our first mandate to apply a community engagement process to raise awareness and introduce policy to prevent trafficking, prosecute perpetrators and support victims (based on the UN Palermo Protocol). Two other mandates for the future that are relevant to the advancement of women: raising awareness and inviting policy and legislative change with regard to the image of women in the media; and, encouraging affirmative action to increase representation of women on boards and in public life.
