Kappa Kappa Gamma, McGill University

Kappa Kappa Gamma, McGill University Aspire to be Chartered on November 21, 1930, The Delta Delta Chapter of Kappa Kappa Gamma is the oldest women's fraternity at McGill University.

Outside of McGill, Kappa Kappa Gamma has an even richer history. On October 13, 1870 at Monmouth College in Illinois, six pioneering women founded what is now known as one of the largest women’s fraternities in the world. As the new group developed, it surpassed expectations of men's fraternities, college administrations, and that of the only other women’s fraternity established just a semester ea

rlier in a neighbouring state. Unique from the beginning, Kappa has upheld exceptional standards of friendship, leadership, scholarship, and social development. Kappa women played a huge part in establishing the National Panhellenic Conference, the umbrella organization that oversees 26 women’s fraternities and sororities in North America. Kappas called the first meeting between sororities and participated in the founding of the NPC in order to maintain high standards across all affiliated sororities as more groups became established across the US and Canada. Kappa was also the first women’s fraternity to have a quarterly journal, the first to set up service centres for soldiers in WWII, the first to have its own museum, and the first to create a Fraternity Headquarters. Our women have become Olympic athletes, federal politicians, Ivy League professors, symphony orchestra musicians, Miss Americas, anchorwomen, Hollywood actresses, CEOs of companies such as IBM, and founders of companies such as our beloved Kate Spade. Kappa has countless opportunities for personal growth through leadership positions, community outreach, educational development, networking, and life-long memories. Our chapter is self-governed through officer positions and committees; there are involvement opportunities for everyone. We also have multiple sisters with 4.0 GPAs, and academic support groups to help everyone succeed to their highest ability. We offer membership to honest, poised, intelligent, success-driven, and fun-loving women who seek to make their McGill University career the best as it can possibly be. Kappa sisters provide each other mentorship and a more rewarding friendship than you could possibly find elsewhere. We believe in true loyalty to our members; once you are a Kappa, you are always a Kappa and will find a sister amongst the 250,000+ initiated members worldwide. Whether you enjoy exploring new places, running up Mount Royal, meeting tons of new people, pulling all-nighters with pitas and garlic potatoes, having impromptu dance parties, dominating Greek Week events, taking road-trips, going to the campus bar on Wednesday nights, hitting St. Laurent on the weekends, or assembling a crew to see your favourite artist -- you will always have Kappa sisters to join you and share your enthusiasm. On top of that, we have frequent sisterhood retreats, a Big & Little guidance system, and our annunal Sapphire Ball with dinner, awards, and dancing. Bottom line: there's never a dull day in Kappa (and that we guarantee). We hope during recruitment that you will recognize how incredible of an opportunity is it to be a Kappa, as hundreds of thousands before you have. We hope our sincerity and positive energy will have you "aspire to be" a KKG. Please visit our chapter website, along with our international website, to learn so much more about what makes us shine.
