CBC has revealed that the World Zionist Organization (WZO) was included on a draft list of entities Canada was considering sanctioning over its role in supporting Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank, but was removed before the sanctions were announced.

Since its founding in 1897, the WZO has been dedicated to the colonization of Palestine and the erasure of the Palestinian people. The WZO’s Settlement Division is funded by the Israeli government and finances Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank.

According to the CBC, the WZO was included in a draft sanctions list but was removed before the final announcement. Canadians deserve transparency about why it was excluded.

Use the link in the comments below to email Foreign Affairs Minister Anita Anand and urge her to immediately sanction the WZO and its Settlement Division.

Canadians want stronger action to sanction Israeli settlements in occupied Palestine, according to new findings from a national survey conducted by Nanos Research, on behalf of CJPME.

The survey findings demonstrate that Canadians do not support the status quo when it comes to trade with Israel, and reveal Canadian support for ending trade benefits tied to Israel’s illegal settlements, and for reforming Canada’s current trade policy based on human rights.

When asked about the Canada-Israel Free Trade Agreement (CIFTA), 26% of Canadians said that it should be cancelled outright, while another 28% said it should be reformed to “ensure that it does not apply to goods produced in Israeli settlements.”

Two-in-five Canadians (41%) believe that Canada should do more to “sanction Israeli settlements in Palestine.”

A considerable 86% of Canadians said human rights should be at least somewhat important as a consideration in Canada’s trade relationships.

CJPME will use these findings to increase the pressure on decision-makers to cancel CIFTA and impose broad sanctions on the illegal Israeli settlements and those who support them.

Tell Montreal City Councillors: Cut Ties with Israel

Montreal City Council will soon be voting on an important motion to recognize the genocide in Gaza and sever institutional ties with Israel.

Moved by Projet Montréal, the motion recognizes the ongoing genocide in Gaza and calls on the City of Montreal to cut institutional ties with Israel until “it returns to its internationally recognized borders, ceases its violations of the rights of the Palestinian people, and ends its violations of international law.”

Join us in emailing Mayor Soraya Martinez Ferrada and City Councillors to tell them to vote “Yes” on the motion to cut all institutional ties with Israel. Montrealers do not want to be complicit in Israeli crimes!

Canada has officially joined the UK, France, Germany, Italy, Australia, and New Zealand in issuing a stark warning: any business participating in Israel's illegal settlement construction in occupied Palestine - including the E1 project - could face legal consequences for breaching international law. This is a direct result of relentless grassroots activism, organizing, and advocacy.

But statements without action are just words on paper. This warning opens the door for real accountability. Now, Canada needs to back these words up by imposing targeted economic sanctions on settlement entities and the Canadian businesses that support them.

When a lobby group has more influence over a news broadcast than a medical professional reporting from the ground in Gaza.

This is the story of how CBC caved to pressure from Honest Reporting Canada, "corrected" the testimony of a firsthand eyewitness, and then quietly admitted to CJPME behind the scenes that their on-air "correction" went too far.

Another glaring example of the Palestine Exception.

Canada’s foreign minister Anita Anand has summoned the Israeli Ambassador for “mistreatment” of Gaza flotilla activists, including Canadians.

Israeli National Security Minister Ben-Gvir today posted videos openly boasting of acts of cruelty, humiliation and abuse against hundreds of kidnapped and detained activists.

Anand mentions Canada’s existing sanctions on Ben-Gvir, but these are insufficient. This incident is not about a single politician, but an entire regime that abuses its critics while committing the crimes of apartheid and genocide against the Palestinian people.

We need broader sanctions on Israel now.

All twelve Canadian activists aboard the Global Sumud Flotilla have been detained by Israel.

Videos emerged showing Israel's National Security Minister openly boasting of acts of cruelty, humiliation and abuse against the hundreds of kidnapped and detained activists.

Global Sumud Canada identified the activists as Michael France, Omar Shaban, Safa Chebbi, Sebastian Tow, Ko Tinmaung, Umir Tiar, Shahid Mahmood, Adam Joshua Norrad Bouzide, Olivier Huard, Ehab Lotayef, Mary Grace Mathisen and Daniela-Maria Bonamico.

Canada must impose sanctions on Israel now.

Every year on May 15, Palestinians around the world mark the Nakba - the Catastrophe. And every year, the Canadian government stays silent.

Canada did not simply witness the Nakba - it helped create the conditions for it. In 1947, Canadian diplomat Lester B. Pearson played a central role in pushing through UN Resolution 181 - the partition plan that allocated 55% of historic Palestine to a Jewish state despite Palestinians comprising the majority of the population, famously describing Israel as "an outpost, if you will, of the West in the Middle East." Canada voted in favour and recognized Israel within months.

For the decades that followed, Canada protected that legacy at the UN, voting NO on virtually every resolution related to Palestinian rights. In 2022, Canada voted NO when the UN General Assembly voted to commemorate the Nakba for the first time. In 2023, Canada boycotted the first ever UN Nakba commemoration event entirely.

78 years later, Canada's position has not changed. In 2025, Canada refused to include Nakba denial as a form of anti-Palestinian racism in its national anti-racism strategy, denying Palestinian refugees and their descendants the legal basis for the right of return, or any possibility of justice. This came as the world watched a genocide unfold in Gaza in real time. Canada looked away.

78 years ago, over 750,000 Palestinians were expelled from their homeland in what became known as the Nakba - the catastrophe. More than 530 villages were destroyed. 15,000 people were killed. 78% of historic Palestine was seized. Those who fled took their house keys, believing they would return in days. They never did. Their descendants still carry those keys.

This is not history. It was policy - and it never stopped.

In Gaza, over 75,000 Palestinians have been killed since October 2023. 1.9 million people have been displaced multiple times over. Every university destroyed. 95% of schools damaged. 90% of hospitals out of service. Now Israel has drawn a "Yellow Line" placing 60% of the Strip under permanent military control - sealing Palestinians from their own land.

In the West Bank, 750,000 Israeli settlers now occupy Palestinian land illegally. Over 1,500 Palestinians have been killed since October 2023. More than 4,000 are held in administrative detention without charge. Israel's own top military commander bragged about killing Palestinians "like we haven't since 1967."

In southern Lebanon, over 2,500 people have been killed and 1 million displaced since March 2026. 308 healthcare facilities and ambulances have been damaged or destroyed. In a single 10-minute attack on April 8, Israeli forces struck 150 locations simultaneously. Israel has committed over 10,000 ceasefire violations since November 2024 - and has published a map formalizing its illegal occupation of Lebanese territory.

From Gaza to the West Bank to southern Lebanon - the names of the operations change. The goal does not. The erasure of Palestinians from their land is not a series of isolated conflicts. It is a single, continuous colonial project that began in 1948 and has never stopped.

The Nakba is not history. It is now.

Our latest report reveals a systemic pattern of Israeli state influence and transnational repression targeting communities expressing pro-Palestinian sentiments, Canadian institutions, and democratic processes. While Canadian security agencies have paid significant attention to foreign influence allegations pertaining to other countries, Israel's documented history of foreign interference and transnational repression has been largely ignored or redacted in Parliamentary studies.

The investigation exposes a malicious role of the Israeli state in interfering in Canadian public affairs, utilizing:

- Covert Influence: Using Canadian individuals and businesses as proxies to hide its role in funding biased opinion polls and intervening in government regulations.

- Racist Disinformation: Orchestrating secret campaigns using fabricated front organizations and AI-based social media accounts to spread anti-Muslim and anti-Palestinian narratives.

- Transnational Repression: Monitoring, profiling, and doxxing Canadians to silence dissent, while advocating for restrictions on our democratic rights and civil liberties.

- Digital Threats: The risk of Israeli spyware used to target activists, human rights defenders, and journalists within our borders.
