Early next week, Montreal City Council is set to vote on an important motion to recognize the genocide in Gaza and sever institutional ties with Israel. The vote is finally approaching after Mayor Soraya Martinez Ferrada initially delayed it by two months. This is our final push to show that Montrealers support this motion!

Join us in emailing the Mayor and City Councillors to tell them to vote “Yes.” Montrealers do not want to be complicit in Israeli crimes!

No Israeli settler extremists in Canada!

We have learned that Jerusalem Deputy Mayor Arieh King, an extremist Israeli settler and anti-Palestinian racist, has been invited to speak in Toronto on August 25.

King is directly responsible for illegal efforts to dispossess Palestinians from their homes in occupied East Jerusalem, and replace them with settlers, which is a war crime. He is an open racist, wanting “maximum Jews to own maximum land” and who calls Palestinians “natural swindlers.” He was investigated by police and condemned by the European Union for inciting violence and terror against the UN aid agency for Palestine refugees (UNRWA). In 2022, he attended a commemoration for Meir Kahane, an extremist Israeli politician who supported racial segregation and deporting Arabs, and who founded the Kach Party which is a designated terrorist entity in Canada.

Canada has already imposed sanctions against over 30 Israeli settler extremist individuals and entities for similar reasons, banning them from travelling to Canada. King must be next.

Jerusalem Post quietly edits entire article after CJPME complaint 🤫

On August 4, 2026, The Jerusalem Post published a poorly sourced and fundamentally incorrect article, forcing the publication to walk back its original reporting following scrutiny and intervention from CJPME.

The original version conflated the Arms Embargo Now coalition's upcoming Day of Action with another group, Palestine Action Canada, using the confusion to justify including three full paragraphs amplifying calls for the activists to be designated as a terrorist entity.

After CJPME raised the alarm regarding this unethical and inaccurate reporting, The Jerusalem Post gutted the article. However, in a blatant violation of standard journalistic ethics, the publication quietly pushed these massive alterations without adding an editor's note — amounting to the unethical practice known as stealth editing. 🥷

The outlet did not respond to CJPME’s request for an editor’s note to be added, nor did it acknowledge our initial complaint in writing.

This incident represents journalistic malpractice by a foreign media outlet unfairly targeting Canadian activists with damaging lies.

Quietly deleting entire paragraphs of false claims, restructuring an article's premise, and altering quotes — all without issuing a formal correction or editor's note — constitute ethical violations of the highest order.

🌊 Impact! CBC issues major on-air correction after CJPME complaint 🌊

During a World Report segment, CBC referred to Palestinian land in the West Bank as "disputed territory."

CJPME’s Media Accountability Project (MAP) challenged this, emphasizing that "disputed territory" misrepresents international law, ICJ decisions, and Canadian foreign policy, which recognize the land as illegally occupied.

After initial pushback and an escalation to the CBC Ombud, CBC reconsidered and broadcast a nationwide correction:

"On July 27, World Report ran a story about violence in the occupied West Bank. At one point, it was incorrectly referred to as disputed territory. It should have been referred to as occupied territory."

Le projet de loi 3 du Québec menace la société civile et les droits de solidarité : Fondation CJPME

Le programme antiraciste de la Fondation CJPME a publié aujourd’hui une nouvelle note d’orientation examinant le projet de loi n°3 récemment adopté au Québec, une loi qui impose de vastes restrictions bureaucratiques à la capacité des syndicats de s’engager dans des activités sociales, politiques et de défense des droits humains.

La note détaille comment cette loi controversée limite la capacité des syndicats à soutenir la justice mondiale, à financer la défense des droits des minorités et à mobiliser des ressources pour d’importantes causes sociales, notamment la défense des droits fondamentaux des Palestiniens.

Le programme est profondément préoccupé par le fait que le projet de loi 3 illustre un effort structurel du gouvernement du Québec visant à faire taire la dissidence et à limiter la participation démocratique de la société civile.

The Anti-Racism Program of the CJPME Foundation has issued a new policy brief today examining the recently adopted Bill 3 in Quebec, a law that imposes sweeping bureaucratic restrictions on the ability of Quebec’s labour unions to engage in social, political, and human rights advocacy.

The brief shows that Bill 3 fundamentally narrows what activities are considered legitimate under union budgets. This means that labour unions will be constrained from speaking out on critical human rights issues, including on Palestine, and will be less able to take legal action against discriminatory legislation.

The brief illustrates the consequences of Bill 3 through two case studies. First, it examines how the law could undermine major union-backed legal challenges to discriminatory legislation like Bill 21. Second, the brief examines how Bill 3 could restrict unions’ ability to engage in Palestine solidarity and global human rights advocacy, particularly in response to Israel’s genocide in Gaza.

We are proud to join the growing coalition standing with the Canadian Museum for Human Rights and defending its curatorial independence over the exhibit “Palestine Uprooted: Nakba Past and Present.”

Public museums must be able to present difficult and contested histories without political interference. Criticism and debate are legitimate, but politicians and pressure groups should not determine what exhibitions Canadians are permitted to encounter.

Canada’s human rights museum must be empowered to tell human rights stories without the threat of political interference.

CJPME joins more than 70 human rights, labour, faith, legal, Jewish, Muslim, Palestinian and civil society organizations in launching a national statement in support of the Canadian Museum for Human Rights and its curatorial independence. The statement responds to organized political and public pressure surrounding Palestine Uprooted: Nakba Past and Present.

People have every right to debate or criticize an exhibition. But politicians and pressure groups should not determine which histories Canadians are permitted to encounter or seek institutional consequences for museums and their leadership.

The principles at stake extend beyond this exhibition. Public museums must be able to present difficult and contested histories through independent, evidence-based scholarship and curation.

The statement remains open, and we invite other organizations and individuals across Canada to add their names.
