The rules for participation in CJPME’s groups and pages are as follows. Offenders will be banned. o No bad language or profanity. Such comments will be deleted. Repeat offenders risk being banned. o No hate speech, threats, abuse or intimidation. CJPME will delete hate speech, offensive, threatening, abusive, or intimidating posts or comments. o Please stay on-topic and respect the purpose of CJPME’s pages and groups. Respectful and informed disagreement is welcomed. However, individuals whose sole purpose appears to be to contradict or criticize everything that is published will be banned. o Please ignore the trolls. There's always the possibility that some Facebook users will deliberately post inappropriate or offensive comments in the thread, which go public before CJPME can remove them. The best way to deal with these comments is to ignore them. CJPME will delete such comments and posts, and may ban said users. o Post in either English or French. Hampstead Mayor Jeremy Levi has pleaded guilty to professional misconduct in a disciplinary case linked to his anti-Palestinian social media comments about Gaza.

Levi’s has called for Israel to fully occupy and annex Gaza, as well as opposition to welcoming Palestinian refugees to Canada. The case is a reminder that public figures’ anti-Palestinian rhetoric can carry consequences beyond public criticism.

Today in Parliament, NDP MP Heather McPherson questioned the Canadian covalent about Israeli weapons manufacturer Elbit Systems’ acquisition of Canadian submarine company International Submarine Engineering (ISE).

McPherson asked whether the government would intervene, but officials did not directly answer.

Canada should not be facilitating business for Israeli weapons companies implicated in genocide and illegal occupation. The government must be held accountable for allowing these companies to expand their operations in Canada while Palestinians continue to endure Israel’s ongoing violence.

Thousands of Canadians spoke out, and the Minister of Public Safety has since clarified in a private letter to the National Council of Canadian Muslims (NCCM) that criticism of Zionism and Israeli government policies is not automatically antisemitism.

But the original Public Safety Canada report remains unchanged.

A private clarification isn’t enough. We are calling on Minister Anandasangaree to revise the report, remove its reference to anti-Zionism and affirm that opposing Zionism is legitimate political expression.

CJPME has received confirmation from CBC News management that journalist Neil Harland violated CBC’s Journalistic Standards and Practices in his posts about pro-Palestine protesters.

Following concerns raised by CJPME, Herland published an additional post providing context about the speaker featured in his original thread.

Journalists have a responsibility to report fairly and provide critical context. Without it, communities and organizers can be unfairly portrayed.

You cannot build bridges with genocide denial!

Marc Gold, a member of the Government of Canada’s Advisory Council on Rights, Equality and Inclusion, signed an open letter calling it a “lie” to say that Israel has committed genocide against Palestinians, and urged that the accusation be met with “revulsion” and “contempt.”

Despite the Council’s mandate to combat racism and hate, Minister Marc Miller’s office has expressed “full confidence” in Gold.

We’re calling on Minister Miller to censure Marc Gold and take meaningful steps to rebuild trust with the communities this Council is meant to serve.

Members of the Canada–Palestine Parliamentary Friendship Group have written to Foreign Affairs Minister Anita Anand calling for urgent action on trade with illegal Israeli settlements and sanctions in response to Israel’s advancing E1 settlement project.

The letter supports measures proposed by the Global Sanctions Coalition under the Special Economic Measures Act.

Canada must move beyond words and take concrete action to stop Israel’s illegal settlement expansion and hold those responsible accountable.

CJPME has joined 30+ social justice and human rights organizations across Canada calling on CBC/Radio-Canada to withdraw from the 2027 Eurovision Song Contest.

With Israel’s continued participation in Eurovision, cultural institutions cannot claim neutrality while Palestinians face ongoing genocide.

CJPME has written to the University of Toronto urging it to allow a student-led vigil commemorating Palestinians killed during three years of Israel’s genocide in Gaza to proceed.

The student-led event is facing defamatory claims and gross mischaracterization by pro-Israel advocates, who are asking the UofT to shut down the event. In response, the university said that the event “cannot proceed.”

It is entirely legitimate for Palestinians and other Canadians of conscience to commemorate and mourn three years of genocide on October 7. This right to mourn extends to students at the University of Toronto, many of whom have family in occupied Gaza, or who simply want to mourn the hundreds of thousands of Palestinians killed by Israel, including health care workers, journalists, women, men, and children.

After false and defamatory claims were made about CJPME and Global Sumud Canada on CJAD 800, CJPME filed a formal complaint with the Canadian Broadcast Standards Council. CJAD 800 has since acknowledged that it had no information connecting CJPME to the claims and issued an on-air correction and apology. When inaccurate claims are given a platform, we will continue to challenge them.
