Park n' Lot Collective garden geared at bringing the school and community together!

Park N’ Lot is a collaborative project that employs the tools of sustainability and urban design to enliven the Montreal West community through the transformation of public space. We, the Royal West Academy Environment Committee have converted a former parking lot into a collective garden, the Park N’ Lot Garden. Our objective for 2013 is to remove the asphalt to create an in ground garden and par

k space. At the moment we have our garden in raised beds which has worked quite well but we want to increase the amount of green space. The purpose for this is to decrease the urban heat island effect, to increase water retention, and to create a source of local organic food for the surrounding community.
