En 1968, un maître bouddhiste était bloqué. 🏔️

In 1968, a Buddhist teacher found himself at a standstill. 🏔️
Chögyam Trungpa, the founder of Shambhala, had recently arrived in the West. Trained from childhood in the discipline of Tibetan monastic life, he found himself facing a world that spoke a different language, and he no longer knew how to transmit what he carried within him.
He then went on retreat to a cave at Taktsang (the Tiger’s Nest) in Bhutan. It was there that he came to understand that the real obstacle was neither culture nor language, but materialism. And, more specifically, what he would later call spiritual materialism: the tendency to turn the spiritual path into yet another ornament for the ego.
From that experience came the Sadhana of Mahamudra: a text intended to cut through confusion and help us reconnect with inspiration when everything seems to have come to a standstill.
Trungpa then chose to offer this practice to everyone, without requiring prior transmission.
Nearly sixty years later, we continue to practice it at the Shambhala Meditation Centre of Montreal.
