Dear Friends,
✨Peace Be with You—Let the Light Shine Through Life’s Cracks✨
Canadian poet and singer-songwriter Leonard Cohen once wrote, “There is a crack in everything, that’s how the light gets in.”
Life inevitably leaves us with cracks and scars, yet it is often through these very places of brokenness that we come to know God, others, and ourselves in deeper and renewed ways.
According to the Canadian Mental Health Association, approximately one in five Canadians experiences a mental health challenge each year—a reality that cannot be overlooked.
In this issue of Prayer & Praise, we turn our attention to mental and emotional well-being. Pastor Janet shares her reflections on shalom, reminding us that true peace is not simply about weathering emotional storms, but also about reconciliation—with God, with others, and with ourselves. And often, that journey begins with knowing ourselves more deeply.
We have also invited Queenie, Centre Director of CCM Calgary and Edmonton Centres, to share about the ministry of spiritual direction, including ten signs of “emotionally unhealthy spirituality.” Josephine, Ministry Director of Linkage Counselling Services, shares her personal journey from receiving counselling herself to becoming a counsellor for others. Finally, we hear from SongYu (pseudonym), who candidly shares his journey from infidelity to returning to the embrace of God. His story gives us a glimpse into how one man, after walking through some of life’s deepest cracks, came to rediscover both God and himself.
As always, this issue also includes our latest prayer needs and ministry updates.
