This weekend, we celebrate three Montreal Dio alumni as they take an important step forward in their vocations: Morgan-Pierre Point, who will be ordained in the Anglican Diocese of Montreal, Jessica Gauthier and Marie-Silvenie Chery who will be ordained in the United Church on October 3 at 1 p.m. at Summerlea United Church.

It is one of the most rewarding parts of our work at Dio to see students continue their journey beyond their time here, taking what they have learned, the relationships they have formed, and the experiences they have shared into new ministries and communities.

Their journeys remind us that theological education is about more than academic study. It is about preparation for a life of faith, service, leadership, and ministry.

Congratulations, Morgan-Pierre, Marie-Silvenie and Jessica! We are grateful to have been part of your journeys and look forward to seeing where your vocations lead you. Your next chapter gives us much to celebrate and much to hope for.

Congratulations to Rev. Éric Hébert-Daly on his appointment as General Secretary of The United Church of Canada!

Éric is a 2019 graduate of United Theological College, whose legacy is now part of our integrated community at Dio.

We are delighted to celebrate this new chapter in Éric’s ministry and wish him every blessing as he takes on this new role.

This morning at Dio, we welcomed Ruth Harvey, Leader of the Iona Community, as part of her visit to Montréal with the Rooted in Hope pilgrimage.

We began with morning Communion, followed by a generous breakfast prepared by two students, a wonderful opportunity to gather around the table and share time together.

Ruth then led us in reflection and conversation on remaining rooted in hope amid complexity and change. Drawing on her experience in conflict transformation, faith-based leadership, and intentional Christian community, she invited us to consider what it means to live faithfully and hopefully together.

And, of course, there was Iona-style singing, bringing the group together in song.

A rich morning of worship, food, conversation and community. We were very glad to welcome Ruth to Montreal Dio.

We began the day gathered around Word and Sacrament at our First Friday Communion and breakfast.

We then continued our journey of formation through today’s Ministry Seminar, reflecting on vocation and the many ways God calls us to serve.

Formation happens not only in the classroom, but also in worship, conversation, and community.

A few more glimpses from our retreat this weekend: a vibrant faculty‑led panel on Holy Scripture, enriched by pastors from Anglican, Baptist, United Church of Canada, and Lutheran traditions, a distinctive gift of our college, where traditions meet and deepen one another.
We leave equipped with thoughtful tools for reading Scripture with clarity and imagination, and grateful for the joy of ending the day together over board games and shared laughter.
