The Concordia Moot Law Society is an organization that provides practical legal experience to the undergraduate pre-law community at Concordia University. As a competitive team, the CMLS sends delegations to moot tournaments that draw schools from across Canada. These competitions are mock courtroom scenarios, in which students will act as lawyers arguing a case in the Supreme Court. The CMLS exec
utive team, along with the help of lawyers and other legal professionals, teaches delegates the basics of mooting, public speaking, legal structure and terminology, and helps them to prepare their arguments for the day of the tournament. Mooting is a great way to improve on public speaking, critical thinking, and the basics of legal knowledge. It is one of the only organizations at Concordia that gives students practical legal experience and an opportunity to get hands-on with the law (and it looks great on law school applications!).
