One year ago, we launched Canada’s first national bursary supporting Black students entering medical school in partnership with Toronto Metropolitan University, Dalhousie University, and McGill University. Today, we’re proud to announce the launch of Year Two of the FFBC Black Medical Student Bursary.
Building on a strong foundation, this initiative continues to reduce financial barriers while opening doors to mentorship, research opportunities, and a growing national network.
What the Bursary Offers:
$10,000 in financial support
Career mentorship and professional development opportunities
Access to networks, research, and community initiatives
Open to eligible first-year Black medical students at Toronto Metropolitan University, Dalhousie University, and McGill University.
Why it Matters:
Increasing representation in medicine helps build trust, strengthen care, and improve outcomes for communities across Canada. By supporting Black medical students today, we are investing in a more equitable healthcare system for the future.
Applications Are Now Open:
If you are a Black student entering your first year of medical school, we encourage you to apply and become part of a community committed to excellence, leadership, and service. Applications close at 11:59PM EST on July 3, 2026.
