Pythio (Πύθιο) formerly Sellos (Σέλλος), is a historic village on the foothills of Mount Olympus. Hence, why we need to unite.

From the 1950’s into the 1970’s many immigrated to Montreal, Canada where a new Pythio exists in the hearts of the all Pythiotes. Pythio (Greek: Πύθιο,['piθio]) is a village and a community of the Elassona municipality.Before the 2011 local government reform it was a part of the municipality of Olympos, of which it was a municipal district.The 2011 census recorded 433 inhabitants in the village.The community of Pythio covers an area of 38.959 km2. According to the 2011 census, the population of the settlement of Pythio was 433 people, a decrease of almost 33% compared with the population of the previous census of 2001. There are more Pythiotliving in Montreal then the Village itself.

Σήμερα, τρία Πυθιωτάκια τρίτης και τέταρτης γενιάς στον Καναδά (απ’ όσα γνωρίζουμε) αποφοίτησαν από το ημερήσιο ελληνικό δημοτικό σχολείο Σωκράτης–Δημοσθένης εδώ στο Μόντρεαλ. Θερμά συγχαρητήρια και στα τρία παιδιά, αλλά και στους γονείς και παππούδες τους, που κρατούν ζωντανή την ελληνική μας γλώσσα, τις παραδόσεις και τον πολιτισμό μας για την επόμενη γενιά.

Today, three Pythiotakia of 3 & 4 generation in Canada (that we know of) graduated from the daily Greek elementary school’s (Socrates-Demosthenes) here in Montreal. Congratulations to all of them, & congratulations to the parents and grandparents for keeping our language and culture alive for the next generation.

Φέτος, δύο μέλη του διοικητικού συμβουλίου του Συλλόγου Πυθιωτών Μόντρεαλ εκπροσώπησαν το χωριό μας στα ετήσια DEKA Awards, που διοργανώνει το Hellenic Board of Trade of Montreal. Αν και φέτος δεν είχαμε κάποιον Πυθιώτη ανάμεσα στους βραβευθέντες (μετά από τέσσερις διακρίσεις μέσα σε τρία συνεχόμενα χρόνια) ήμασταν παρόν, όπως πάντα, για να στηρίξουμε τους συμπατριώτες μας Ελληνοκαναδούς και να γιορτάσουμε μαζί τις επιχειρηματικές τους επιτυχίες. This year, two members of the board of the Pythio Association of Montreal represented our village at the annual DEKA Awards hosted by the Hellenic Board of Trade of Montreal. Although we did not have any Pythiotes among this year’s winners (after celebrating four winners over three consecutive years) we were still present and proud to be there, showing our support for our fellow Greek-Canadians and celebrating their success in business.
