The Youth Media Alliance (YMA) wishes to acknowledge Mathieu Lacombeโ€™s commitment to Quรฉbecโ€™s cultural sector and the youth media industry.

After eight years as a Member of the National Assembly and Minister, Mathieu Lacombe announced that he will not seek another term in the next election. He will, however, continue in his current role until the end of his mandate.

Minister of Culture and Communications since 2022, he has distinguished himself through his strong engagement with the cultural community and his understanding of the challenges facing creative industries, particularly the youth audiovisual sector.

YMA thanks Mathieu Lacombe for his openness, support, and constructive dialogue with our organization and our members. His commitment has contributed to advancing conversations around the essential role of content created for children and youth within our cultural ecosystem.

We wish him all the best for the next chapter of his journey.

As the only international marketplace in Canada entirely dedicated to childrenโ€™s media content, KIMS will bring together international buyers, co-production partners and Canadian companies in a highly curated environment focused on networking and business development.

At a time when many Canadian small and medium-sized businesses are facing growing challenges in attending major international markets, KIMS aims to bring the world to them while strengthening Canadaโ€™s profile as a global leader in childrenโ€™s content.

It is with great sadness that we learned of the passing of Sophie Faucher, an exceptional actress, author, and communicator who left a lasting mark on Quรฉbec culture over several decades.

In the youth media space, Sophie Faucher helped introduce children to the world of Frida Kahlo through her books Frida, cโ€™est moi and Je mโ€™appelle Frida Kahlo, which celebrate difference, creativity, and self-acceptance. Her work also inspired the animated film Hola Frida!, for which she co-wrote the screenplay.

Throughout her career, she received numerous recognitions, including a Gรฉmeaux Award for Best Actress in a Youth Series for her role in Tohu-Bohu. She was also a multiple-time nominee for the Youth Media Alliance Awards of Excellence.

We will also remember her as a valued ally of the YMA, notably serving as a key link between the Alliance and Kim Yaroshevskaya, our unforgettable Fanfreluche.

A great woman leaves us, but her talent, generosity, and dedication to youth will continue to inspire generations to come.
