Curious about the legacy of organizaing at Concordia? Wanna get inspired by movements of the past? Join ASFA and FASA for our first orientation event of the semester; we’ll be hosting a double screening of “DISCORDIA” and “NINTH FLOOR,” two documentaries which focus on important moments in the history of student organizing at Concordia.

Synopsis: 
Discordia: “On September 9, 2002, a scheduled appearance by former Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu sparked heated debate at Montreal’s Concordia University. By the end of the day, the « Concordia riot » had made international news, from CNN to Al-Jazeera. This film documents the fallout from that eventful day, following three young campus activists as they negotiate the most formative year of their lives.” (NFB)

Ninth Floor: “Director Mina Shum makes her foray into feature documentary by reopening the file on a watershed moment in Canadian race relations – the infamous Sir George Williams Riot. Over four decades after a group of Caribbean students accused their professor of racism, triggering an explosive student uprising, Shum locates the protagonists and listens as they set the record straight, trying to make peace with the past.” (NFB)

FASA + ASFA are collaborating on a benefit concert on September 1st, to raise funds for Indigenous land defense of the Atikamekw Nation at Km 134 of Chemin Parent. We’ll be tabling with student work to be sold for donations. Drop your work off, or coordinate a spot for us to pick it up; label well with:

- your phone number and email
- suggested price
- your art handle (optional)

Have you always wanted to paint a mural ? Itching to complain about Concordia admnistration ? Come rant with us before school starts and make connections with your FASA executives and other student activist divas from universities and CÉGEP across Montréal!

Come help paint a mural at la CRUES !

- there will be music playing but our general/mob coordinator (me) gets overstimulated very easily and so if you need the volume down they will gladly support you in this.
-open to all students, funded by la CRUES and organized by FASA executives and la CRUES (this is what your FASA fee levy does !)

Finance Coordinator: Elisabete Almeida
I am an entrepreneur, full-time musician, and community builder with strong experience in financial planning, event coordination, and leadership. I have promoted and organized events, managing logistics, budgets, and audience engagement to ensure successful outcomes.

As an independent artist, I have created and managed budgets for my album projects and promotional campaigns, developing strong financial discipline and resource management skills. Running my own business has further strengthened my ability to plan strategically and execute projects effectively.

I also served as a manager and chief leader at Tapigo in Saint Laurent Montreal, where I oversaw operations, supervised teams, and managed budgets in a fast-paced environment.

In addition, I am a electroacoustic student and jazz singer leading my advanced program, Mona Mojo, where I design curriculum and manage program operations for dancers and musicians

I am eager to contribute these skills as a Financial Coordinator at FASA while gaining experience in a larger organization.
