We cater to people coping with issues of legal incapacity and public guardianship in Quebec

The Public Curator of Quebec manages the care of 13,000 people who have been declared incompetent along with their assets worth $410,000,000 ($410M). By definition, these people are vulnerable and unable to look after their affairs. Curator officials use the convenient “private and confidential” response in order to deny the public, family, and concerned persons access to information that may indicate what they are doing with their client’s assets and health care. With the inclusion of private curatorships, the number of people under the authority of the Public Curator reaches 50,000, not including those who are personally affected such as family members. We also act as a watchdog and continuously seek to improve the operations of the Curator, most notably by informing the public of its misdeeds and by advocating for changes in legislation to enable public transparency.
