Full Circle: a qtbipoc youth program

Full Circle: a qtbipoc youth program a QTBIPOC arts & activities program for youth aged 18-25 based in and around tio'tia:ke/Montréal.

Project 10 works to promote the personal, social, sexual, and mental well-being of le***an, gay, bisexual, transgender, tr*******al, two-spirit, intersex, and questioning youth and adults 14-25. Through advocacy and education, using a harm reduction approach, Project 10 aims to facilitate the empowerment of youth at individual, community, and institutional levels with a particular emphasis on supp

orting individuals and groups who experience multiple and intersecting oppressions. Services are free of charge, confidential and anonymous, and are offered in English and French. In line with its mandate and long-term vision, Project 10 is committed to addressing the needs of QTBIPOC (Q***r, Trans, Black, Indigenous, People of Colour) youth in and around Montreal. Spaces, programs, and resources that centre the lived experiences and realities of QTBIPOCs in the city are scarce, which prevent the youth from finding support, community, mentorship, and a sense of history. Project 10’s new initiative is an inter-generational, youth led, arts-based program that seeks to empower QTBIPOC youth by offering:

- training in creative media and the arts
- opportunities for performances, exhibits and art showcases
- development of leadership skills
- opportunities for inter-generational conversations
- connections to mentors, art centres and performance spaces
- site visits
- opportunities for arts-based, community-based and archival research

The project is free and meals/snacks and STM tickets will be provided to participants in all of our programming. CORE VALUES:
- Our work is located in local history, in community, in the details and rituals that make up the everyday lives of q***r and trans people of the colour in and around Montreal.
- We centre approaches and practices that speak directly to our lived experiences, our struggles, our languages, our bodies, our stories.
- We break down barriers between story and history, between art and activism, between high and popular culture, between teaching and learning.
- We believe in the continuum of relationship development, between and among art spaces, community organizations, youth, elders, and other supporters.
- We centre accessibility, anti-oppression and harm-reduction in our work.
- We centre integrity and the imagination in our work. CONTACT:

Our Bodies, Our Stories is an initiative launched in the summer of 2017. It is an inter-generational, youth led, arts-based program that seeks to empower QTBIPOC youth by offering: - training in creative media and the arts - opportunities for performances, exhibits and art showcases - development of leadership skills - opportunities for inter-generational conversations - connections to mentors, art centres and performance spaces - site visits - opportunities for arts-based, community-based and archival research In running this project, we document and archive our process and disseminate our art, work and research online and in print. We thus hope to honour the work of our elders, of our communities who have a rich and long history of creative resistance, and to leave a legacy for the future generations. The project is free and meals/snacks and STM tickets will be provided to participants in all of our programming.
