🎹 Hommage à Oliver Jones – Un grand de la Petite-Bourgogne

Aujourd’hui, nous sounhaitons rendre hommage à Oliver Jones, immense pianiste de jazz, mais surtout enfant de notre quartier.
Né et élevé dans la Petite-Bourgogne, Oliver Jones y a découvert la musique dès son plus jeune âge, notamment à l’Union United Church. De notre quartier aux grandes scènes internationales, il a fait rayonner le jazz montréalais tout en demeurant profondément attaché à ses racines.
Son parcours fait partie de l’histoire de la Petite-Bourgogne, de son patrimoine musical et de l’immense contribution de la communauté noire à l’identité de notre quartier et de Montréal.
Alors que la communauté lui rend aujourd’hui un dernier hommage à l’Union United Church, nous souhaitons saluer sa mémoire, son talent et l’héritage exceptionnel qu’il laisse derrière lui.
Merci, M. Jones, d’avoir fait résonner la Petite-Bourgogne bien au-delà de ses frontières. 🎶
🎹 Tribute to Oliver Jones – A Little Burgundy Legend
Today, we wishe to pay tribute to Oliver Jones, an extraordinary jazz pianist, but above all, a son of our neighbourhood.
Born and raised in Little Burgundy, Oliver Jones discovered music here at a very young age, notably at Union United Church. From our neighbourhood to stages around the world, he helped bring Montreal jazz to international audiences while remaining deeply connected to his roots.
His remarkable journey is part of Little Burgundy’s history, its musical heritage, and the immense contribution of the Black community to the identity of our neighbourhood and of Montreal.
As the community gathers today at Union United Church to pay its final respects, we honour his memory, his talent, and the exceptional legacy he leaves behind.
Thank you, Mr. Jones, for making the sound of Little Burgundy resonate far beyond its borders. 🎶
