📣 Celebrating the Fellows and Mentors who shape our Community!
Yesterday was International Women’s Rights Day (March 8): an opportunity to highlight four remarkable women whose commitment is transforming the experience of our Scholars.
Today, we honour all the women who, through their expertise and leadership, contribute to building a stronger, more inclusive, and more enlightened community. Thank you for being sources of inspiration, support, and change.
🤝 Onome Ako (2025 Mentor)
CEO of Action Against Hunger Canada, Onome stands out for her humanitarian leadership and her dedication to fighting hunger in more than 50 countries. Her journey in social impact is a powerful source of inspiration for our 2025 Scholars.
🤝 Cathy Bennet (2025 Mentor)
A seasoned leader and influential figure across the business community, public service, and the non‑profit sector, Cathy places strong emphasis on mentorship. She finds great fulfillment in helping Scholars think bigger and act boldly. For her, mentorship is a reciprocal process through which she also learns from the young leaders she supports.
🤝 Stéfanie von Hlatky (2024 Fellow)
Canada Research Chair in Gender, Security, and the Armed Forces, professor at Queen’s University and research fellow at the Centre for International and Defence Policy, Stéfanie is actively involved in supporting our Scholars. She notably led a conversation with Lloyd Axworthy as well as a panel on Canada’s engagement in the world during the Foundation’s Ottawa Symposium, helping to foster an informed reflection on the Canadian Charter and its international reach.
🤝 Antonia Maioni (2023 Fellow)
Professor at McGill University’s Institute for Health and Social Policy, and associate member of the Department of Political Science and the Desautels Faculty of Management, Antonia was highly involved with the 2023 cohort. She made a significant contribution during an April 2024 conference at Harvard University on Canada and its allies in an era marked by turbulence and geopolitical rivalry. In July 2026, she will become President of John Cabot University in Rome, the first woman to lead this institution.
🤝 Sophie Montreuil (2024 Mentor)
Executive Director of the Association francophone pour le savoir (ACFAS), Sophie leads a century‑old organization with more than 4,500 members. Deeply engaged in the Foundation’s events, she enriches conversations on science, research, and their role in our societies through her insights and participation.
