Disappointing closing remarks from the federal government, delivered by its Parliamentary Secretary Kevin Lamoureux during yesterday's final debate on Bill C-218 ahead of the Oct. 7 vote.
"Given the very importance of the issue of mental health, let us have more discussions. I would like more provinces to establish departments of mental health, but at the end of the day, I do not necessarily believe the exclusion is the way to go."
How will this "I do not necessarily believe the exclusion is the way to go" translate into Justice Minister Sean Fraser's official response to the AMAD committee's recommendation for an indefinite exclusion of MAID for mental disorder?
We hope for transpartisan support of C-218 from CPC, NDP, Green Party & many Liberal MPs. More info about the bill https://www.parl.ca/legisinfo/en/bill/45-1/c-218
