RùéMI BELLIVEAU – TRISTE NATION
Décembre 2025

Le volet écriture de TRISTE NATION, projet tentaculaire, est en rédaction. Spéculant sur le potentiel magique de sa propre culture acadienne, Rémi Belliveau se confectionne une épistémologie mnémonique q***r basée sur l’imaginaire de l’enfance et les désirs impossibles. Rémi cultive plusieurs collaborations au sein de son projet, dont un travail de conception de personnages avec l’illustrateur acadien Joël LeBlanc. Chaque personnage incarne une forme d’altérité spécifiquement acadienne, comme par exemple l’ours-garou : une figure mythique immortalisée dans le fameux manuscrit de « Contes d’Acadie » attribué à Thomas LeBlanc.

RÉMI BELLIVEAU – TRISTE NATION
December 2025

The written portion of TRISTE NATION, a tentacular research project, is taking form. Speculating on the magical potential of their own Acadian culture, Rémi Belliveau attempts to craft themselves a mnemonic q***r epistemology based on childhood imagination and impossible desires. Rémi has been all the while cultivating collaborations within the framework of their project, most notably an ongoing workshop of character concepts with Acadian illustrator Joël LeBlanc. Each character in Triste Nation embodies a form of otherness specific to Acadian culture, like the werebear: a mythical figure immortalized in the infamous manuscript titled “Contes d’Acadie” [Acadian Tales] and attributed to Thomas LeBlanc.

What affects circulate before, during, and after a performance? What bodily intensities, emotions or desires are set in motion, shared or transformed between people, depending on their situation?

To mark the beginning of their writing residency at VIVA! 2025, collectif Phorie invites the public to a three-voice discussion, where the memes of the collective will share some preliminary thoughts on the affective economies in action art.
