Last night, at our club’s monthly meeting, we were pleased to welcome Zone 57 West Chair Lion Carol Rodger, who spoke about Lions International President Mark Lyon’s presidential message, “Rooted in Service.”

She reflected on how our Montreal Central Lions Club is deeply rooted in Lionism in Quebec, proudly holding the distinction of being the first Lions Club established in the province.

Thank you, Lion Carol, for your visit and your lovely remarks!

Inspired by the International President’s message, we are reminded to stay grounded in the values that have guided Lions and Leos for generations and to find joy in serving others. As we celebrate our 104th year of community service, we remain committed to making a difference in our community.

Last night, members of our club, including our President and Vice President, attended the Thanksgiving supper hosted by the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 24/106 – NDG
It was a wonderful opportunity to connect with our veterans, share in the spirit of Thanksgiving, and witness the presentation of service pins to Legion members in recognition of their dedication and service.

As a gesture of friendship and appreciation, our Club President and Vice President were each presented with a Legion Cup, symbolizing the strong friendship and bond between our club and the Legion.

We are grateful for this meaningful connection and for the opportunity to honour those who have served our country. ❤️🇨🇦

👁️🦁 Lions Vision Week | October 8–18, 2026
This week, Lions and Leos around the world are coming together to promote eye health, support people who are blind or visually impaired, and help prevent avoidable blindness.

For more than a century, vision has been at the heart of Lions service. From vision screenings and eyeglass recycling to supporting people living with visual impairments, we serve so that others can see a brighter future.
Together, we can make a difference, one sight, one life, one community at a time.

Frozen turkeys delivered to the Royal Canadian Legion – NDG Branch, ready to be prepared into Thanksgiving meals and shared with members of our community.

It’s Thanksgiving time, and with Thanksgiving comes the spirit of giving 🦃❤️

This year, our club is proud to donate frozen turkeys to the Royal Canadian Legion – NDG Branch. The turkeys we just picked up from Provigo Provigo Andréanne Laurin will be delivered to the Legion, where they will be prepared into community meals and distributed to those who need them.

A big thank you and our sincere appreciation go to Andréanne Laurin, owner of Provigo Laurin Montreal Sherbrooke Ouest, for her continued generosity and support of the Montreal Central Lions Club and our various food security initiatives.

Your generosity helps us turn giving into meaningful action and bring a little warmth to our community this Thanksgiving. 🙏

On September 24, Lion Shirley and Lion Pierick attended McGill University’s annual Community Engagement Day where they met and exchanged with students looking for volunteering opportunities. The students were introduced to Lionism, learned about our projects and the many ways to become involved in their community by, for example, helping to sell our famous fruitcakes in the coming months
Looking forward to the students’ participation during the annual cake and cookie sale that will take place at Carrefour Angrignon, November 12, 13 and 14.

This year, we’re off to a strong start with our used eyeglasses collection program. In just one month, 1,200 pairs of eyeglasses have been collected!

Last month, our club had the pleasure of welcoming Lion Marcelle G. Batshon from the East Jerusalem Lions Club.

Our VP, Lion Guy Bertrand, welcomed her to our clubhouse and presented the remarkable journey of our club, from its founding in 1922 to the present day.

Following her visit, Lion Marcelle shared a thank-you email and her reflections on the experience with Lions Clubs in Jerusalem, Bethlehem, and Ramallah.

In her message to those clubs, she spoke about how impressed she was to be surrounded by photographs, stories, and memories, reminding her that Lions history is truly the history of people who chose to care, serve, and make a difference.

She also shared how special it was to learn about our commitment to serving our communities. It was a beautiful reminder that although we may come from different places, speak different languages, and have different backgrounds, the language of service is universal.

The Lions legacy doesn’t belong only to the past, it lives in each of us, and it is ours to carry forward.

From generation to generation, and from community to community, our mission remains beautifully simple:

To Serve. To Care. To Inspire.
To leave our communities a little better than we found them. 🦁💙
