Food Cycle Food Cycle is focused on eliminating food waste/surplus from restaurants, grocery stores and events within and outside of Concordia.

Food Cycle is a free service focused on eliminating food waste by sharing donated leftover food to those who lack nutritional intake by implementing services like communal fridges and donating larger portions to local shelters in and around Montreal. Food surplus is also recycled through these initiatives by working with internal groups such as The Hive Cafe, People’s Potato, Concordia’s Food Coal

ition, Home-Cooked Concordia and outside intiatives such as Feed The Hen- Nourrir Henri, Les Pirates Verts OBNL - The Green Pirates Non-profit, NDG Food Pantry and more. Leftover edible food items are then donated to those who lack nutritional intake through food sharing platforms and communal fridges. Larger portions are donated to partnering initiatives such as local shelters in and around the Montreal area. Our mission is to promote diversity, eliminate food desserts and empower communities by promoting efforts that create community resilience, strength, autonomy. We encourage diversity and opportunities that promote food justice while reducing food waste. through diverse voices and opinions. Food Cycle addresses issues regarding food justice and food sovereignty by collaborating with local businesses and organizations to educate community members to live autonomously. Both consumers and producers have the right to manage their own food regime as a means of benefitting members of a community.

What is Food Cycle?

Food Cycle is an organization that is focused on eliminating food waste by setting up a communal fridge within Concordia University.

In collaboration with Zero-Waste and The Dish Project, leftover food from events or stores can be stored for students to come and enjoy, free of charge, on a first come first serve basis.

Larger portions of food will also be given to non-profit organizations and shelters in and around Montreal through Tablée des Chefs, a local charity that aims to feed people in need.
