Rescue All Dogs

Rescue All Dogs Rescue All Dogs (RAD) is a non-profit organization focused on rescuing dogs which have been abused. Originally founded in 2018 by Kim Desautels and Yossi Ohana.

neglected, abandoned, or are scheduled to be euthanized in high kill shelters. Rescue All Dogs (RAD) started as a merchandise store which donated the profits from its sales to fund rescue operations. Over time, it evolved into its own rescue organization which utilizes a volunteer based network of foster homes, veterinarians, and trainers. Dogs which are taken into RAD’s program go through an exte

nsive medical and personality assessment before being prepared for their “furever” homes during the foster phase. Often it involves rehabilitation and training as well. Despite its small personnel footprint, since RAD has started its rescue operations it has had a large geographic footprint by pulling its rescues from around the world. Based in Vancouver, British Columbia and Montreal, Quebec, RAD has regularly rescued dogs not only from Canada, but also from the United States and overseas in the Middle East. Operating without discrimination, RAD’s goal is to rescue at risk dogs regardless of breed, age, or size. In addition to its rescue work, RAD promotes matters that improves the welfare of dogs such as owner education, spay and neutering, and the advocacy of the ethical treatment of animals. Our mission is to work in the hope that this type of work will not be needed in the future. Do good, be RAD!

We’ve been quiet on socials but we have not stopped “behind the scenes” …. Often in rescue we can’t share publicly for a while for many reasons, the main being investigations. So here we are, FINALLY introducing you our 7 RAD kids! We really need our RAD fam to help us with these.

We are now officially partners with which we are so thrilled about for many reasons. One, they do great work that we align with what we do and two we can help more with harder cases/situations. And there’s more reasons we won’t all list here. lol.

When we were contacted about this mess, we definitely didn’t turn a blind eye. Over 100 dogs, all living in rusted metal crates stacked on top of each other. None of these dogs ever had much contact with humans, didn’t see anything outside those walls. It was overcrowded, dogs being in their f***s, urine and other bodily fluid, just filthy with piles of garbage all around. Overgrown nails, sickly bodies covered in matting, one mama nursing her dead baby. The list goes on.

Here’s where we need to really really educate you all. These breeders have been “allegedly” doing this for DECADES. At one point they were showing dogs, and won. These sick individuals are registered with the . Now NOT because a breeder is registered with the AKC or CKC (Canadian Kennel Club) automatically means they are reputable and ethical breeders. Being registered with AKC /CKC is NOT enough on its own to guarantee a responsible breeder. Proof is right here, and trust us, these situations are not “rare”.

More than 100 dogs are safe now. The road to recovery has begun. 🤍 We desperately need to raise the rest of the funds for the seven we have. We have done many of their surgery but now short on funding.

All of the 7 that we have taken have needed extensive dental surgeries, one needed all but two teeth removed. We have started. All have infected teeth with variant degrees of bone loss and gingival recession along with copious amounts of tartar and plaque.

Please donate if you can or share! ANY amount helps. Thank you all so much! Links in bio to donate to these babies.

The Dogs We Unmade by Anneka Svenska

Once, I was built for something.
The old centuries still breathe inside my ribs.

I am a Malinois — a body tuned to flight and flame.
Shaped to leap, to guard, to search, to save.
Now I am told, “be easy,” lie still on a sofa that feels like a cage.
My muscles hum for orders that never come.

I am an Akita Inu.
My ancestors stood between their people and the bear;
courage ran hot as iron in their veins.
Now I am asked to be soft, compliant, small—
and punished when my inheritance answers back.

I am a Beagle.
I once sang the world’s map with my nose,
a bell that rang for life itself.
Now a silent shock tightens my throat,
and I am called with fingers that never learned my music.

I am a Yorkshire Terrier.
Down in the dark I was lightning—
a whistle of paws through rat-run stone.
Now I am glass on a cushion, legs unused,
lifted like an ornament, set down like a worry.

I am a Labrador Retriever.
Joy was a cold pond and a clean splash—
a bird carried home, soft-mouthed, radiant.
Now I grow heavy by the radiator,
a babysitter with a broken compass.

I am a Jack Russell.
I was bred to square my chest to fear,
to face down the hole that bit back.
Now my spark is called “naughty,”
and they file me into the shape of a quiet room.

I am a Siberian Husky.
I knew the long white hush and the drum of snow,
a horizon that kept its promises.
Now the world is four walls and a sour lawn.
I dig to bury the ache in my bones.

I am a Border Collie.
Made to waltz with a shepherd, to pour order out of chaos,
to work until the stars came out in my eyes.
Now, for want of sheep, I gather bicycles and children—
and am scolded for being faithful to the blueprint in my blood.

I am all of these.
I am a dog of the 21st century—
pretty, packaged, compliant on paper—
and also a someone, hammered and honed by purpose.

Eight or ten hours alone is not comfort.
It is a clock with no hands.
I bark, I dig, I shred, I break—
or I sink, go silent, thin into a shadow.
This is not mischief. This is despair.

You give me a soft bed and a full bowl—
and wonder why I look away.
It’s because the road I was forged to run
doesn’t fit inside your living room.

If you love me—if my blue eyes or sleek coat called to you—
but your life cannot hold the work my breed still begs for,
do not buy me. Do not adopt me.

If you want my look but not my fire,
if you think love alone can rewrite a lineage,
do not buy me. Do not adopt me.

Yes, I am modern.
But my pulse still drums with fighter, hunter, puller, protector, guide.
History moves in my marrow.
Please, choose with the weight of that in your hands.

And if you must leave me, think of two instead of one—
so the hours won’t gnaw so deep.
Your workday is my winter.

I am a dog of now,
and every dog that stood before me.
I ask only for the life I was meant to live.

Our boy Kodi is finally SAFE! 🎉

9 days on the run. 5 boroughs. Over 15km distance. Kodi was not an easy boy to catch - but this morning he decided he had had enough, and he let us help him.

The support we have received in the past week and a half has been incredible - communities rallied and shared his info, called, texted and messaged about countless sightings, and never gave up. A special thank you to the St Leonard community - we were blown away by the helpfulness you all gave us. While we have dealt with lost dogs before, this kind of support was new and warmed all of our hearts.

To the amazing volunteers who gave their time to help, to the team in LA who always made themselves available for advice and support, and especially to Serge and Marie, a wonderful couple from PAT who allowed us to commandeer their yard and home this morning to capture Kodi, THANK YOU. This would not have been possible without you.

Kodi is safe and sound at his fosters home, was eager to say hi to his foster siblings Sage, Pax and Moonstone, and is now getting some much needed rest after his ordeal. While he has lost weight, and has a small wound on a paw, he is otherwise completely unharmed. After a few days of recuperating, Kodi will be back to his loving and goofy self 🤍
