Today, our Executive Director, Sta Kuzviwanza, and Director of Public Affairs, Chad Walcott, are representing PERT at the 2026 Pan-Canadian Consultations on Official Languages, bringing forward our key priorities to strengthen employment opportunities for Québec’s English-speaking community.

We’re pleased to have the opportunity to contribute to the development of the next Action Plan for Official Languages and help shape policies and initiatives that address the employment challenges facing Québec’s English-language official language minority community (OLMC).

English-language vocational and technical training offers a proven pathway into Québec’s workforce for English speakers. However, access remains limited, and potential changes to the application of Bill 101 in CEGEPs and vocational training centres could create additional barriers to these opportunities.

Fully including English-speaking Quebecers in the labour market could add $1.5 billion annually to the provincial economy. Strengthening English-language VTT, and supporting francization within it, is an essential part of getting there.
