Another sweet Hope Garden gathering last week, this time in partnership with Fusion UrbaNature. On a blistering hot day, we managed to get together and take shade in the micro-forest, and were lucky to hear from fabulous facilitator, Naomi, and her team, about the functions of micro-forests and the development of this space in NDG. We identified plants through the properties of their leaves, got our hands dirty planting sunflowers, and made sandwiches for a picnic while we thought about new ways to connect around composting, ocean projects and climate education.
Stay tuned for more events to follow. Hope Garden is a recent initiative by the Family Care Collective, and aims to foster pro-environmental action. Our mission is to ensure inclusive learning opportunities for families facing barriers. These family-friendly events feature guest speakers, community gardening, arts-based projects, experiential learning, and climate action. Through collaboration with local initiatives and guest hosts, we share accessible knowledge about gardens and green spaces in the city, inspiring engagement with the natural environment.
