Fondation Chamandy se tient aux côtés du milieu communautaire et appuie le mouvement de grève "𝙇𝙚 𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙢𝙪𝙣𝙖𝙪𝙩𝙖𝙞𝙧𝙚 𝙖̀ 𝙗𝙤𝙪𝙩𝙩𝙚!", qui débute aujourd’hui jusqu’au 2 avril.

Nous soutenons pleinement cette mobilisation nationale et ses 𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗲𝘀 :

The LGBTI Pathways survey gathers confidential, global, and regional data directly from LGBTI organizations to build a shared understanding among grantmakers, civil society, and policymakers of the needs, priorities, and funding landscape of the international LGBTI movement.

Led by Global Philanthropy Project and ILGA World, the research strengthens donor decision-making by centering grantee-identified priorities across regions and movements.

Fondé en 2009 à la suite du décès tragique de Fredy Villanueva, Hoodstock est né comme une plateforme permettant aux jeunes de Montréal-Nord d’exprimer leurs réalités et de dénoncer les inégalités systémiques. Depuis, les jeunes sont au cœur de sa mission.

L’organisme œuvre à bâtir des communautés inclusives, sécuritaires et équitables, tout en s’attaquant au racisme systémique, à la marginalisation économique et à la violence. Par ses programmes de justice réparatrice, ses projets d’éducation populaire contre le racisme dans les écoles et ses initiatives intergénérationnelles, Hoodstock favorise une transformation sociale fondée sur la collaboration et la réparation.

Ancré dans une approche par et pour les communautés, Hoodstock accompagne principalement des jeunes Noir.e.s et racisé.e.s. Sa gouvernance et son équipe reflètent la communauté qu’il sert, alliant expertise professionnelle et expérience vécue afin de maintenir une action profondément connectée aux réalités de Montréal-Nord.

Notre troisième portrait rend hommage à 𝗥𝗼𝘀𝗲 𝗡𝗱𝗷𝗲𝗹, directrice générale de l’organisme AfriqueauFéminin, partenaire de Fondation Chamandy depuis 2021 en sécurité alimentaire.

Née au Cameroun et arrivée au Québec en 2000, Rose Ndjel est diplômée de HEC Montréal en gestion comptable. Engagée depuis toujours dans l’action communautaire, elle a rejoint Afrique au Féminin en 2008, où elle a occupé plusieurs postes avant d’en devenir directrice générale.

Elle consacre son énergie à soutenir les femmes immigrantes afin qu’elles puissent prendre leur destinée en main, renforcer leur pouvoir d’agir et améliorer concrètement leur bien-être. Ce qui la motive profondément ? Le sourire des femmes qu’elle accompagne — un merci silencieux, mais infiniment puissant.

Son engagement a été reconnu à plusieurs reprises : lauréate en 2019 de la Table ronde du Mois de l’Histoire des Noir.e.s, elle a également été honorée par l’arrondissement de Villeray–Saint-Michel–Parc-Extension pour son apport exceptionnel à la communauté immigrante. Plus récemment, elle a reçu la Médaille du couronnement du roi Charles III, soulignant son engagement remarquable envers les femmes, la justice sociale et le vivre-ensemble. Une distinction qui célèbre des années de travail, de solidarité et de résilience.

Chamandy Foundation is thrilled to support the 𝗪𝗼𝗼𝗱𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗖𝗼𝗼𝗸𝘀: 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁 at Cadotte Lake School . Designed for Grade 9 students, this experiential learning initiative promotes health and well-being by building food literacy, cooking skills, leadership, and meaningful connections among youth and their families.

The program includes hands-on training and cooking workshops in collaboration with other First Nations communities and the Northern Institute of Advanced Technology Culinary Arts program, family cooking nights, and opportunities to learn traditional hunting and food preparation skills.

Following major kitchen renovations at the school, the space has become much more than a place to cook. For many students, it is where confidence grows, responsibility is learned, teamwork is practiced, and pride is built through creating something with their own hands.

We are inspired by the strength of this community and can’t wait to see what these young leaders accomplish next.

Notre deuxième portrait met à l’honneur Manoucheka Céleste, fondatrice et directrice générale de Mains Utiles . Depuis plus de 10 ans, l’organisme accompagne des femmes immigrantes en utilisant la couture comme levier de rassemblement, d’autonomie et d’intégration sociale.

Animée par un profond sens de la justice sociale et passionnée de mode, Mme. Céleste a longtemps cherché comment unir ses deux univers. C’est au cours de ses études en design de mode qu’elle a trouvé sa voie : mettre son expertise en couture au service des femmes immigrantes vivant des défis d’intégration.

Immigrante elle-même, arrivée au Québec à l’âge de 28 ans avec un parcours universitaire, elle a rapidement constaté les obstacles auxquels font face de nombreuses femmes pour s’intégrer à leur société d’accueil et accéder au marché du travail.

C’est ainsi qu’est né Mains Utiles : un espace où la couture devient un prétexte pour briser l’isolement, créer des liens et reprendre confiance. Grâce au bouche-à-oreille, l’organisme a mobilisé une communauté de femmes partageant une même volonté de s’entraider et de s’intégrer pleinement.

Aujourd’hui, Mains Utiles est bien ancré dans la communauté léonardoise et reconnu comme une ressource complémentaire essentielle, répondant à des besoins réels et urgents. L’organisme a d’ailleurs reçu plusieurs prix et distinctions pour son travail remarquable auprès des femmes.

For Black History Month, we’re proud to 𝘀𝗽𝗼𝘁𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝘀𝗽𝗶𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝗼𝗿𝗴𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘇𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲.

Our first portrait features Elijah Olise, founder of the 𝗛𝗼𝗹𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰 𝗔𝗳𝗿𝗼 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵 𝗖𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿. A social work student at McGill University, Elijah grew up in care and has become a powerful advocate for stronger support for youth aging out of child protection services.

“Being able to take care of yourself is tremendously harder than it is for your peers,” Elijah shares, pointing to trauma as one of the most significant — and often overlooked — challenges these youth face.

Chamandy Foundation is proud to support Elijah’s initiative, which 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗶𝗱𝗲𝘀 𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘀𝘂𝗯𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗶𝗲𝘀, 𝗳𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗶𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗵𝗼𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵 𝗮𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗤𝘂𝗲𝗯𝗲𝗰’𝘀 𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗱 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘀𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺. The program responds to an urgent housing crisis and a critical lack of transitional support, particularly affecting Black, Indigenous, and Afro-Indigenous youth, who are disproportionately represented in care.

Holistic Afro Youth Center took shape through the Maison de l'innovation sociale (MIS) Civic Incubator Program (Winter 2021), a pivotal moment in the development of this nonprofit dedicated to addressing systemic barriers faced by youth transitioning out of institutional care. Guided by the principles of Ubuntu, community healing, and youth empowerment, Elijah’s leadership centers mentorship, skill development, and collective resilience.

Beyond organizational leadership, Elijah is deeply engaged in policy advocacy, peer intervention, and program development rooted in lived experience. His work reflects a core belief: young people with lived experience must be at the heart of building more just, compassionate, and effective systems.

Chamandy Foundation is proud to support O3 On Our Own, a remarkable organization providing transitional housing and support services to young, vulnerable parents aged 16 to 30 with at least one child under the age of five. Facing significant socio-economic barriers, these parents need more than housing — they need a safe environment where they can build independence while accessing ongoing support. This is exactly what O3 On Our Own offers.

Through this partnership, we help sustain transitional housing and wraparound services, including:

• Monthly one-on-one meetings with support workers to set educational and career goals
• Workshops on budgeting, parenting, and mental health
• Additional supports such as study nights, childcare, career fairs, holiday events and outings
• Weekly collective kitchens and access to emergency food and toiletries

In a neighbourhood facing significant socio-economic challenges — including poverty, gang recruitment, violence, and substance use — children and youth, particularly Indigenous, newcomer, Black, and low-income families, often have limited access to safe and enriching spaces. This partnership helps create exactly that: a welcoming, secure environment where young people can grow, connect, and thrive.

Chamandy Foundation is proud to support their 𝗨𝗹𝗹𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗮𝘁 𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗿𝘆 𝗙𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺, which encourages youth participation in traditional Inuit food systems. The program offers on-the-land outings to share hunting, fishing, and harvesting knowledge, along with community-based activities such as skinning and traditional cooking. It also fosters youth leadership, strengthens mental and physical well-being, and helps break social isolation.
