The SAIL Grant – Taking Action for Nature is back for a 2nd edition! 🍃

Two grants of up to $15,000 each will be awarded in 2027, one to a member of Conservation Ontario, and one to a member of Parq, the Association des parcs régionaux du Québec (Québec Aventure Plein Air - Aventure Écotourisme Québec). 🌲

🎯 The goal: to support projects that promote biodiversity, restore natural environments or improve public access to nature.

[IGA ECO FUND] Year-round, our waste management team supports IGA, Vive la bouffe stores through the IGA Eco Fund to help them reduce their waste.

Depending on the actions they put in place, stores can earn the Action Reduction certification. 🎓

➡️ Among the concrete solutions: food donations, a solidarity-based way to avoid food waste. And it's just about time for last year's results! 👀

[TEAM BUILDING] 📸 A look back at our annual team building week, which took place last week!

👉 The week's highlight was hands down our visit to our partner Uni-Recycle's facility, a key player in Quebec's circular economy. Instead of letting electronics head straight to recycling, their team repairs and refurbishes them, giving these devices a second life back in circulation.

The week also included:
🌿 A walk at the Parc de L'Île Saint-Quentin
🕵️ An escape game created by some of our teammates
🌎 Reflections on our mission and our programs
🌮 A taco night

Like every year, we brainstormed, chatted, played, walked and cooked together, and that's always such a joy. 💚

🚴‍♀️♻️ A Green Brigade at the Tour CIBC!

Our Jour de la Terre Canada team was at the Tour CIBC event organized by the Fondation Charles-Bruneau, thanks to the Fonds Éco IGA, to support and educate participants about proper waste sorting. 🌱

And to make things a little more fun, we put their knowledge to the test with a little quiz! 👀

Recycling, composting or deposit return? The answers aren't always as obvious as you might think… 🤔

Did you know that since January 1st, 2025, all packaging, containers and printed materials are accepted in the recycling bin? ♻️

♻️🚴‍♀️ Riding for a great cause is even better when it's done with the environment in mind!

On July 10, our Green Brigade joined the CIBC Tour for the Grand Finish, with a team of 10 members deployed across three sites in Boucherville and Verchères to help participants sort their waste properly and maximize material recovery.

Thanks to the support of the Fonds Éco IGA, which lent its team of waste management experts to the Charles-Bruneau Foundation, we were able to divert a significant amount of recyclable and organic materials from landfill, helping make the event a success both environmentally and socially. 🌱

This initiative also gave back to the community:
♻️ More than 1,000 refundable beverage containers were donated to a fundraising initiative for the Charles-Bruneau Cup.
🥫 Nearly 200 kg of food donations were distributed to a community organization in Longueuil.

Congratulations to the 1,000+ cyclists who took part in the CIBC Tour and helped raise an incredible $4.05 million to support pediatric cancer research. 💛

A big thank you to the Charles-Bruneau Foundation, Fonds Éco IGA and everyone involved for making this inspiring collaboration possible! 🌎

🔧 Giving everyday items a second life also means creating lasting sustainable habits. ♻️

As part of its commitment to sustainability, in partnership with Earth Day Canada, hosted three Repair Cafés at its Montréal and Toronto offices.

With the support of the incredible volunteers from Centre du Plateau and Repair Café Toronto, employees learned how to repair a wide range of everyday items instead of replacing them.

Beyond the repairs themselves, these workshops gave participants the opportunity to:
✨ build practical repair skills;
💚 adopt more sustainable everyday habits;
💰 discover that repairing is often easier and more affordable than buying new;
♻️ help reduce waste by extending the life of everyday items.

A big thank you to the EY teams and to all the repair experts who generously shared their knowledge, skills and passion.

Every repaired item means less waste. Every repair is a concrete step toward a more sustainable future. 🌎

🔌 After three years, the Charge for Change program has come to an end.

The transition to electric vehicles is a key part of reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Yet for many communities, limited access to charging infrastructure remains a barrier to adoption.

That is exactly why Charge for Change was created: to support the installation of public EV charging stations in municipalities and Indigenous communities where charging options were limited or non-existent.

Thanks to this initiative:

⚡ 25 communities across Canada received funding
⚡ 82 new charging stations were installed for residents and visitors
⚡ 128 charging ports were added in underserved areas
⚡ 56 new charging sites across the country
⚡ 73 municipalities and Indigenous communities demonstrated their commitment to accelerating the transition to sustainable mobility

Beyond the numbers, these new charging infrastructures are helping make electric mobility more accessible, strengthening local charging networks and supporting communities in their environmental transition.

We extend our sincere thanks to for its trust, commitment and $3 million investment over the past three years, as well as to all the municipalities, Indigenous communities and partners who contributed to the program's success.

Together, we helped build a more accessible charging network for the communities of today and tomorrow. 💚

[CHARGE FOR CHANGE⚡] On Earth Day, the final two site openings of our “Charge for Change” program, carried out in partnership with Aviva Canada, were celebrated in Fort Erie, Ontario, and Gravelbourg, Saskatchewan. 🌎🚗🔌

In Fort Erie, Ontario, municipal representatives and community members gathered on April 22 to inaugurate 4 new stations and 8 chargers in the presence of Mayor Wayne Redekop, Chris McQueen, Chief Administrative Officer, and Anamika Dilwaria, Director of Planning and Development Services.

“These new EV charging stations are a practical step forward in delivering on Council’s Strategic Plan. They expand access to clean transportation, support environmental responsibility, and position Fort Erie for sustainable growth,” said Wayne Redekop. “This project reflects our commitment towards a greener, more resilient community for residents to enjoy.”

The same day in Gravelbourg, Saskatchewan, the community also celebrated the installation of 2 stations and 4 chargers in the presence of Mayor Mathieu Forest and Ariel Haug, Economic Development Officer.

“I’m thrilled to share that Gravelbourg secured funding through the Charge for Change program for two new EV charging stations, thanks to the efforts of our Economic Development Office,” said Mathieu Forest. “This investment is a significant step forward for our community, putting us on the map as a stop for travellers moving through the province while providing a much-needed service for our residents.”

Together, these final installations mark the completion of the Charge for Change program and continue to strengthen Canada’s EV charging network while supporting more sustainable transportation options from coast to coast. ⚡
