🎺🌺 A MUSICAL TRIBUTE TO REMEMBRANCE
Through music, we will remember them.
This year’s programme brings together stirring marches, evocative soundscapes, beloved melodies and powerful contemporary works, each offering its own perspective on remembrance, service and sacrifice.
🇬🇧 British grandeur meets musical brilliance in Edward Elgar’s Pomp & Circumstance March No. 4. Elgar himself described the work as “gaudily gay and brilliant”—a fitting reflection of its sparkling energy and noble, soaring melodies.
🌺 A moment for reflection comes with Richard L. Pope’s Nightfall in Camp, a poignant work that evokes the solemnity of remembrance, alongside our Act of Remembrance.
🎖️ Tributes that inspire include Satoshi Yagisawa’s Homage, Ted Ricketts’ Beyond the Horizon and Ayatey Shabazz’s Starpoint—works that invite us to reflect on sacrifice, hope and the enduring strength of the human spirit.
🎷 A touch of wartime nostalgia comes with A Tribute to Glenn Miller, celebrating the timeless swing music that accompanied a generation through the Second World War. We’ll also bring Broadway’s unmistakable energy to the concert hall with Broadway Show-Stoppers.
From the dramatic intensity of Rosano Galante’s Vertical Terrain to the resonant beauty of Cathedral Echoes by Briegel, this programme offers a rich musical journey that honours our past while reminding us of the enduring importance of peace and freedom.
Join the 306 (Maple Leaf) Wing Concert Band on Saturday November 7 at 7:30 p.m. at Cedar Park United Church in Pointe-Claire as we remember those who served, honour those who sacrificed, and celebrate the power of music to keep their memory alive.
We will remember them. 🌺
