Last week, we had the opportunity to celebrate two special guys at Newman House! Help us wish Nick and Tyler a very happy birthday! 🥳

Spending a birthday in recovery isn't always easy so these are big days for us!

Meet Shawn. 👋

Shawn is here at Newman House for relapse prevention, and one of the things that stands out about him is the way he carries himself.

He demonstrates calmness, consistency, and acceptance of where he is in his journey. He has always trusted the process, even when it's been a challenge.

He’s becoming more confident in who he is in Christ while continuing to grow, learn, and take responsibility as the man he wants to become.

These things combined makes him someone the guys look up to and respect.

On October 29, Shawn will be entering Phase 2 of the Newman House program; another important step forward in his recovery journey.

As he moves into this next phase, Shawn will also begin taking part in fundraising efforts for Newman House, giving back to the program and helping create opportunities for other men who will walk through our doors.

And there’s another exciting chapter ahead for Shawn (and his wife). They have a baby on the way. ❤️

We’re proud to watch Shawn continue to grow, take on new responsibilities, and prepare for the next chapter of his life.

Keep going, Shawn. Your story is still being written. 🙏

You know you’re doing something right when the guys just want to hang out in the office and talk to staff.

Sometimes recovery isn’t a class, a meeting, or a big milestone.

Sometimes it’s just sitting around, having a conversation, laughing, sharing what’s going on, or knowing there’s someone there who will listen.

At Newman House, we want the guys to know they’re not just residents going through a program. They’re part of a community.

And honestly… when the office becomes a place they want to be, that means a lot to us. ❤️

🎓 Congratulations to Joshua James for graduating from Newman House Recovery Centre!

When Josh first came through our doors, he was trying to figure out who he was again. Today, we're celebrating not only his graduation, but the man he has become.

What started with Josh serving as an intern with the keys to the meds, and a couple night shifts quickly became so much more.

He began helping the men as their case worker, stepping into day-to-day operations, working through budgets, solving problems, and becoming the kind of guy we call a “make it happen” guy.

Along the way, God has continued to restore what was once broken: his family, his purpose, his confidence, and his sense of who he is.

And today, his journey takes another step forward.

As of his graduation, Josh is stepping into the role of Director of Operations at Newman House, serving on a volunteer basis.

And this isn't his only new chapter.

On October 14, Josh will also begin a new role as Senior Director of the two YMCA locations in Moncton.

From a man who once didn't recognize himself in the mirror, to a graduate, a father, a leader, and someone now using his gifts to serve others; this is what redemption looks like.

Josh didn't just walk through the program.

He found purpose on the other side of it.

We're incredibly proud of you, Josh. Your story is still being written, and we believe the best is yet to come.

Congratulations, Josh. ❤️

Daily routine. 💪

At Newman House, every one of the boys has chores. Today, that meant getting the garbage and cardboard out to the curb. 🗑️📦

It might not look like much, but learning responsibility, accountability, teamwork, and taking pride in the little things is part of recovery too.

And yes… we tend to test the limits of Moncton's garbage collection. 😂

The boys were grateful for the pizza… even if it meant they were forced to cheer for the Montreal Canadiens! 😂

Some of them weren’t exactly thrilled about it, but apparently free pizza was worth the sacrifice. 🍕🏒

1,505 DAYS OF SOBRIETY.🙏

THIS IS A RECORD!

But this is more than a number.

This represents men staying the duration of the program. It represents consistency, accountability, and choosing recovery day after day.

It means seeing seasons change while in recovery. Watching winter turn to spring, summer to fall... while their lives are changing right alongside them.

The rules and guidelines we have in place are designed to create the structure and accountability needed to give these men the long termsuccess.

This is what happens when you stay.
This is what happens when you put in the work.

This is recovery. This is Newman House.
