𝒈𝒂𝒊𝒆𝒕𝒆́ 𝒔𝒖𝒍 𝒕𝒄𝒉œ𝒖𝒓

“gaieté sul tchœur” est un projet de collaboration de l’Atelier d’estampe Imago et Alter Acadie NB.
Trois artistes visuels et trois poètes ont été invités à collaborer en duo pour créer une série limitée de t-shirts imprimés à la main.
𝐋𝐮𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐧 𝐋𝐚𝐜𝐞𝐧𝐚𝐢𝐫𝐞 & 𝐌𝐨 𝐁𝐨𝐥𝐝𝐮𝐜
Le slogan est né à la suite de deux sessions de brainstorming avec Lucien, avec l’aide de plusieurs site webs de vocabulaire acadien et après de nombreuses réflexions sur la relation que j’entretiens avec l’Acadie, la q***rness, le déracinement, l’inconfort, mon rapport à la langue, à la distance qui se creuse sans qu’on le veuille, à mon besoin de partir, au feeling de ne jamais être assez. Pas assez q***r, pu assez acadien.ne. J’écris toujours directement de la plaie, de ce qui (me) fait mal, donc écrire pour ce projet était pour moi très confrontant. Puis j’ai pensé à la mer, celle qui accueille à bras ouverts, qui enrobe, berce et réconforte. J’ai pensé à ma première baignade post mastectomie sur une plage de Bas-Caraquet. J’ai pensé à toustes celleux qui vivent leur q***rness loudly en Acadie et j’ai ressenti un pétillement dans mon cœur, une vague de joie, un radieux chavirement.

“gaieté sul tchœur” is a collaborative project between the Imago Printmaking Studio and Alter Acadie NB.
Three visual artists and three poets were invited to collaborate in pairs to create a limited edition series of hand-printed T-shirts.
𝐋𝐮𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐧 𝐋𝐚𝐜𝐞𝐧𝐚𝐢𝐫𝐞 & 𝐌𝐨 𝐁𝐨𝐥𝐝𝐮𝐜
The slogan was born after two brainstorming sessions with Lucien, with the help of several Acadian vocabulary websites and after much reflection on my relationship with Acadie, q***rness, uprooting, discomfort, and language, on the distance that grows against our will, of my need to leave and the feeling of never being enough. Not q***r enough, not Acadian enough. I always write directly from the wound, from what hurts, so writing for this project was very challenging for me. Then I thought of the sea. The one that welcomes with open arms, that envelops, cradles, and soothes. I thought of my first post top surgery swim on a beach in Bas-Caraquet. I thought of all those who live their q***rness loudly in Acadie, and I felt a sparkle in my heart, a wave of joy, a radiant upheaval.

Any remaining shirts after the presale will be available on the evening of the opening reception on May 17 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Imago (1st floor, Aberdeen Cultural Center).
