Last week the Threes decided to explore Autumn through their senses. They collected leaves, pine cones and pine needles to create and use at their sensory table back in the classroom. The children were then able to explore the different smells, textures and stickiness.

Thanksgiving is a time to give thanks to the "Small Blessings" that come our way! May you create special memories that will fill your heart today with many more to come. Wishing you all a Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family.

Thank you to all that were able to contribute to our Turkey Dinner Drive for the Salvation Army's Community and Family Services. Some children assisted in packing up the donations and loading them on to the van this morning.

With your help we are showing the children how to care for others as well as your donations will be giving some families in the community some joy this Thanksgiving weekend.

In the Morning Preschool class we had a flashlight day special event! On this day we were able to bring our own flashlights from home and experiment and play with them.

Some of the children enjoyed being able to make shadows on the walls and make silly faces in the dark with their friends. We took some tissue paper and sheet protectors and made our flashlights shine different colours!

Then we got silly and did some stories in the dark and used our hands to make shadow puppets.

This special event provided amazing opportunities for silly play, experimenting with light and thinking about the different ways we could use our flashlights.

What's Next?
We'll do more science experiments in the classroom and explore the properties of different objects that we use everyday!

Our Annual Turkey Dinner Drive has now started. Let's see if we can fill this table with donations for families in need. If you are wishing to donate here is a list of items that you could bring: pasta, canned meat ,canned fruit, canned vegetables, rice, pasta sauces, and canned stews.

Yesterday, we saw a sea of orange in honour of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.
Let’s carry that reflection with us every day: Every Child Matters.

Orange Shirt Day is coming up and we now have a display at the front foyer where we would love for you to take the time to write a short note on the orange hearts your note of hope, support, or kindness for children and families within the centre. Feel free to tape your orange heart to the window for all to read.

Let’s see if we can fill the window with lots of orange hearts!

Just as a reminder in recognition of National Truth and Reconciliation Day we will be closed Wednesday, September 30, 2026, with our Orange Shirt Day on Tuesday, September 29, 2026. We can't wait to see your orange.

Today, the children and educators participated in our Terry Fox Walk. It was a wonderful opportunity for the children to be active, and spend time together. The children enjoyed walking with their friends and educators while being part of an event that supports cancer research. It was a meaningful experience that encouraged kindness, community, and helping others.

This morning in Chapel, we discussed the story The Wise Man Built His House on the Rock. To demonstrate the story, we built block houses on both sand and rock. When the storm came, the house built on the rock shook a little but stayed intact. However, when the storm hit the house built on the sand, it fell down.

The house built on the rock represents building our lives on a strong foundation, such as faith, trust in God, and following His teachings. The house built on the sand represents having a weak foundation. Just like the houses, we may face difficult storms and challenges in our lives, but if we have a strong foundation, we can remain strong and get through them.

For the children, this means learning to follow what Jesus teaches us about being kind, caring, and showing love to others. When we treat our friends with kindness and love, we help them feel happy.

A Huge Thank You to Our Summer Students!
We would like to send a huge thank you to our amazing Summer Students who have been with us this summer! From left to right: Reese, Monique, and Lauren. It has been an absolute pleasure having you here, and you have each contributed so much to your individual positions and to our centre community.

You may have seen these staff members in various places around the centre this summer:
Reese has been working with our Kinder Kamp and Summer Camp groups.
Monique has been working in the kitchen, helping prepare the food our children enjoy each day.
Lauren has been working with our younger preschool-aged children.

We wanted to get the children’s thoughts on these staff members and hear what they had to say. Here’s what they told us…
Reese:
“He’s smart and he helps people.” “I like playing chess with him, tag, and he helps us do different things.” “He plays tag with us and Monopoly Deal.”
Lauren:
“It was fun with the spray bottles. I sprayed her.” “She laughs with us.” “She was nice.”
Monique:
“She brings us food. “She’s in the kitchen.” “She makes some of the food we eat.”

As you can see, it’s not only the children who will remember the experiences and memories made with these wonderful staff members — we will too!

Reese, Monique, and Lauren have each shown themselves to be responsible, willing to learn, hardworking, and committed. Their amazing work ethic and positive attitudes have been such an asset to our centre.

We will certainly miss having you here and are so grateful for everything you have contributed this summer. You will always have a special place in our centre family.
Thank you for being a part of our team, and we wish you all the very best in the new school year!
