For the first time in the history of our Lawn Bowling for Kids' Sake event, we spotted a tuque on the green. While Mother Nature certainly tested our resolve this year, the incredible teams who came out to support local youth mentoring programs reminded us that a little rain can't dampen community spirit.

To everyone who braved the elements on Friday and to those who were ready to join us on Saturday before the weather forced us to postpone, thank you. Your enthusiasm, laughter, generosity, and commitment to helping young people reach their full potential brought warmth to a very chilly weekend.

While Saturday's event may have been rained out, we're looking forward to welcoming several wonderful teams over the coming weeks as we complete this year's tournament.

Whether you're coming with coworkers, friends, or family, no experience is required. Just bring your team and get ready for a great time on the greens.

Every team that registers helps create opportunities for local youth. It costs approximately $1,500 to create and support one mentoring match for a year, and right now, more than 90 young people in our community are waiting for a mentor.

Together, we can help move more youth from the waitlist into life-changing mentoring relationships and into possibility.

At Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Moncton, supporting our volunteers doesn't stop once a match is made.

Last week, we brought together a group of mentors for a relaxed evening of conversation and connection. Over mocktails and meaningful discussion, mentors at different stages of their journeys reflected on the successes, challenges, and unexpected moments that come with building a mentoring relationship.

One of the strongest themes of the evening was that no two matches are the same. Every relationship develops in its own way, and every experience is valid.

We are always looking for new ways to support our incredible volunteers, create opportunities for connection, and ensure they have the resources, encouragement, and community they need to thrive.

To all of our mentors: thank you for the time, care, and consistency you bring to the lives of local young people. We couldn't do this without you.

Every mentoring relationship tells a different story.

Today, we're sharing Bruce and Tyler's story from Big Brothers Big Sisters of Calgary. What began as a mentoring match in 1981 grew into a friendship that has lasted more than four decades.

Stories like these are everywhere. Hundreds of young people, mentors, and families benefit from our mentoring programs each year right here in Greater Moncton, and many of those relationships continue to shape lives long after the match officially ends.
