5000 Farms

We are moving into corn, early potatoes and early carrots starting in the next two weeks! We'll need help with processing and bagging, especially with carrots as we still need to gather these from the ground once the harvester moves over. We are still tracking towards our goal of 300,000lbs of produce this year, all of which will go into Feed Nourrir NB's vital food security system. Keep an eye here for more information to follow!

A big thank you to all the volunteers who came out in the past week! We have now completed our green bean crop for the year. While the yield was hampered by the June weather, the quality of the beans was very high. This is thanks to the volunteers who came out and worked the cleaning line ensuring the highest quality made product made it to Feed Nourrir NB!

Next we will be harvesting sweet corn and early potatoes in the next few weeks!

When Jesus looked at the hungry crowd, He didn't turn them away, he called His disciples to step up and feed them. That is the heart behind 5000 Farms.

Since 2015, the team at 5000 Farms have been serving New Brunswick by growing fresh, nutritious food and giving it away to local food banks and missions. This year, God has blessed them with a potential record harvest of over 300,000 lbs of food!

But they are facing a critical gap.

Rising costs mean they are falling short of their operational needs which leaves a risk of crops being left unharvested.

We are living in challenging times, but it is also the greatest time to be salt and light. 5000 Farms is doing the hands and feet work of the Gospel, but they need the body of Christ to support them today.

We have started green beans and have taken off over 2000lbs. This year the challenge is short beans, but the quality is very good. We will be harvesting on Tuesday and Wednesday if anyone is interested to volunteer!

Green Bean harvest will likely begin next week! Despite challenges with our June weather and July heat resulting in shorter plants, there will be beans! Today's rain is a major blessing, and we are still tracking to our largest harvest yet.

For all those who have asked to volunteer, we'll be sending out an email this weekend hopefully pinpointing our dates. Green bean harvest is mechanized, but there is post-processing on the line we need help with. Thank you for everyone's ongoing help!

We need your help! So far 5000 Farms is anticipating the largest harvest since beginning in 2015. With the worsening food security crisis in Atlantic Canada, we know we can make an impact with over 300,000 lbs of produce and protein. Our mission is to feed people who are depending on our food banks and kitchens and show the love of Christ in everything we do. However, 5000 Farms is running critically short of its' operating budget.

Faith is the currency of heaven and we're not pleasing to God or of much good here without it; So, we know He will provide us with the resources we need. Can you help with spreading the word of our mission and helping us through this season? We operate with very low overheads, and one cost to this is we don't have the best marketing or awareness out there. Aside from one full-time farm manager we can't live without, (the rest of us are volunteers), every dollar we raise goes directly into the fields and food we raise. And that takes diesel, fertilizers, equipment and parts, supplies and many other costs all farms incur. We don't compete with our vital farmers in this region either. We exist for one reason, and that is to donate 100% of our crops into the food security network: the food banks, kitchens and missions that increasingly so many people of all walks of life are relying on. Thank you!

God is Good! June has been the opposite of 2025 and there has been a little too much rain and not enough sun and heat. However, we had strong crop emergence, and this week's sun, heat and wind has allowed us to catch up on vital crop maintenance such as cultivation and fertilization shown in the pictures. We are still tracking for a powerful harvest to supply the food security network in New Brunswick!

Leviticus 26:4 Then I will give you your rains in their season, and the land shall yield its increase, and the trees of the field shall yield their fruit.

We were honored on Friday to meet the organizers of One Church who, through the incredible gathering of 25 churches in our community, raised over $42000 to support ministries and programs such as Harvest House Atlantic, the Salvus Clinic and The Greater Moncton Homelessness Steering Committee. One Church blessed 5000 Farms with $10,000 which helps pay for our seed costs this year as we continue our mission to grow and harvest over 300,000 lbs of food for the New Brunswick food security network and for our friends at Feed Nourrir NB. Thank you One Church!

Your overwhelming giving allowed us to spread the love to a third organization, 5000 Farms!

This donation will help 5000 Farms in their production of fresh vegetables and poultry to support those struggling with food insecurity.

Despite a week out for rain, 5000 Farms completed the majority of planting this past weekend. After 3 weeks of long days and nights, cabbage and carrots, along with green beans, corn and potatoes are in the ground. Only onions are left and we are hoping to get these in this week. Pictured below are some action shots showing hill making, cabbage and carrot planting, the loyal supervision of the Farm Pug, and the addition of 2 new friends we'll update on later this month!

Despite a late start with much needed rain in May, 5000 Farms is moving ahead. The last week of dry and warm weather has allowed us to get some of the crops in and more to follow this week and next. Pictured below are some shots of tillage, planting corn and potatoes, as well everyone's favorite exercise of picking rocks - 35 tons so far.
