Because of you, our $100K in 100 Days Challenge surpassed its goal, raising $106,201. With the support of our anonymous matching donor, that impact has grown even further, bringing the final total to $206,201.

A great day of learning in Georgina, ON 🌟

Greyshirts recently joined The Salvation Army in Canada for Emergency Disaster Services training, exploring response equipment, learning about mobile service trailers, and taking part in hands-on reception centre activities.

Opportunities like these give our Greyshirts a chance to expand their knowledge, connect with partners, and gain a deeper understanding of the many resources that support communities during disasters.

When Jen joined Team Rubicon Canada in 2024, she was looking for a way to continue serving others.

A veteran who served from 1987 to 2007, she found a community of people driven by purpose and a mission she could believe in. Through every challenge, Jen brought the qualities that define so many Greyshirts: kindness, determination, resilience, and grit.
Her story is a unique one.

In less than two years, she went from Greyshirt volunteer to full-time Team Rubicon Canada staff member, continuing her commitment to service in a whole new way.

We're proud to have her in the Greyshirt community and grateful for partners like you who help connect more people to opportunities to serve. Andrea's commitment to stepping up for communities in need is exactly the kind of impact that makes partnerships like this so meaningful. 💪🇨🇦

When North Atlantic partnered with Team Rubicon Canada earlier this year, we hoped our support would help strengthen an organization that is making a difference in communities before, during, and after disasters. What we didn't expect was how quickly that impact would be felt within our own team.

For North Atlantic employee Andrea, the connection was personal.

Following the devastating 2025 wildfire season in Newfoundland and Labrador, Andrea wanted to help the communities affected by the fires. Originally from Conception Bay, she watched as fires threatened communities close to home, an area where her mother still resides. While she was able to donate supplies, she was left wanting to do more.

"It was hard watching from the sidelines. I wanted to help in a meaningful way, but I didn't know where I fit in."

That opportunity arrived in April 2026 when Team Rubicon Canada visited North Atlantic as part of the launch of our partnership. During the presentation, employees learned about Team Rubicon's mission of mobilizing military veterans and civilians, known as Greyshirts, to support communities before, during, and after disasters.

The message resonated immediately with Andrea.

By the end of the presentation, she had scanned the QR code, signed up, and begun her journey as a Greyshirt volunteer.

Since then, Andrea has completed seven training courses, such as site surveying, chainsaw operation, and Mental Health First Aid, building the skills needed to support future disaster response and recovery efforts. She has also volunteered at community deployments such as the Tely 10, supporting community safety while getting to know fellow Greyshirts from across Newfoundland and Labrador.

Most recently, Andrea put her name forward to support Team Rubicon Canada's flood response efforts through Operation Highwater, demonstrating her commitment to being ready when communities need assistance. Operation Highwater mobilized volunteers to support flood-affected communities in Manitoba as recovery efforts got underway.

Today, her Team Rubicon go bag sits packed and ready, a reminder that when the next call comes, she's prepared to help.

"Team Rubicon showed me that you don't need to be a first responder to make a difference. You just need a willingness to step up and help."

Andrea's story is a reminder that community partnerships create impact in unexpected ways. Beyond financial contributions, they connect people with opportunities to learn new skills, serve their communities, and make a meaningful difference in the lives of others.

We're proud to support Team Rubicon Canada and proud of employees like Andrea who are helping bring that mission to life.

That's a wrap on Op Whispering Pines 🌲

First and foremost, thank you to the community of Clinton, BC, for welcoming our team and trusting us to help you during this challenging time.

Thank you as well to the Thompson-Nicola Regional District for their partnership throughout the operation.

Our Greyshirts showed up ready to work, and work they did. From hazardous tree removal to debris clearance, this team tackled tough jobs, supported local residents as they navigate the challenging road to recovery, and made a tangible difference across the community.

We are grateful we could be of service. 💪🇨🇦

Ready leaders don't happen by accident.

Shoutout to this awesome group of Greyshirts who joined us in Tatamagouche, NS, for ICS 300.

From leadership and coordination to decision-making in complex environments, participants spent the course building the skills needed to support expanding incidents and help lead successful operations.

Thanks to everyone who invested their time, shared their experience, and showed up ready to learn. Every training opportunity makes us stronger and better prepared to serve communities across Canada 💪 🇨🇦
