Team Rubicon Canada’s annual service project at Camp Maple Leaf brought Greyshirts together for an incredible weekend of painting, building, and clearing across the camp. Each day was packed with steady effort, teamwork, and solid progress from start to finish.

This day was about hard work, teamwork, and service with purpose.
Greyshirts joined forces with our new national partner Aviva at the Onondaga Farm site of Tim Hortons Foundation Camps to help prepare the camp for another summer of life-changing experiences for youth across Canada.

Together, blue sleeves worked beside grey sleeves to:
🪓 Split and prepare firewood for the countless campfires still to come this summer
🌲 Clear debris from trails to help create safe spaces for campers to explore and connect
🔨 Safely dismantle a structure and clear the site for future adventures on camp grounds

Before campers gather around those fires, walk those trails, and create memories that can last a lifetime, there is work happening behind the scenes, work powered by service, grit, and people willing to step into the arena together.

But the best part of the day wasn’t just what we accomplished. It was the people beside us. By the end of the day, some volunteers had officially added a Greyshirt to their wardrobe, and we were proud to welcome 4 new Greyshirts into the TR Canada community.

This is what readiness looks like. Service before disasters. Community before crisis. Shoulder to shoulder.

Greyshirt Jack has been with Team Rubicon Canada since 2018. After leaving the army, he thought he was closing a chapter, but the camaraderie, the purpose, the volunteer spirit he missed? He found it all again here.

He calls the people at TR Canada his second family. And after countless deployments (truly… he’s lost count), that’s why he keeps coming back.
