Myla is still waiting to be adopted 💔

At about 9 years young, Myla has so much love to give! Once she feels safe, she absolutely melts for head scratches, belly rubs, and quiet companionship. She also loves being up high where she can peacefully supervise the world from her favourite cozy perch.

Myla's owner fell ill and was heartbreakingly not able to return home. Myla deserves a family who will give her the second chance she's been waiting for!

To help make adopting more accessible, we're sponsoring Myla's adoption fee, plus her annual wellness exam and core vaccinations for life through our Sponsorship Program 🐾

As far as we know, Myla gets along well with other cats. She has not been tested with dogs.

Introducing Bubba! 🐾

This senior gentleman is incredibly affectionate and never turns down pets, cuddles, or lap time. Whether he's curled up beside you or stretched out across your lap, this gentle boy is happiest when he's sharing his love with the people he cares about 💜

Bubba is currently under the care of Dogwood Animal Rescue and is available for adoption.

Bubba is in remission for diabetes, so he will need to remain on his veterinarian-prescribed diet for life.

Happy Black Cat Appreciation Day! 🐈‍⬛💜

Black cats are incredible companions, yet they are often overlooked in shelters. They tend to have lower adoption rates and can spend longer waiting for a family than cats of other colours.

Senior black cats face an even bigger challenge, as both their age and coat colour can make it harder for them to find homes.

That's why we're especially proud to have played a part in helping four wonderful senior black cats in our sponsorship program find loving families: Freya, Snook, Milo, and Miss Kitty. 🖤

Purrfect Seniors founders, Rhonda and Hailey, also adopted their own black cat, Indie, in 2021. She's smart, playful, endlessly entertaining, and a constant reminder that black cats absolutely rock!

We’re celebrating another senior cat adoption 🐾

A few weeks ago, sweet 9-year-old Lizzie found her forever home through SALT Rescue. This adoption happened quietly behind the scenes as Lizzie’s adopter found her before we even had a chance to announce her sponsorship.

We find it incredibly heartwarming that Lizzie’s adopter specifically sought out a cat with special needs. Lizzie has diabetes, and we’re so happy to see her go home to a family that will take great care of her!

Lizzie is settling in wonderfully and is so loved. We couldn’t be happier for this special girl! 💜

Submissions are now open for the Purrfect Seniors 2027 Calendar! 🐱🐾

We're looking for 12 kitties to feature in next year's calendar. If you'd like to submit your cat, visit our website for the contest details and submission form.

A few important things to know:
• Entries are free
• One entry per household
• Photos must be landscape (horizontal) and high-quality
• If we receive a large number of submissions, finalists may be selected through a public vote
• Senior cats are encouraged to enter

Submissions are open until September 7th, 2026.

Today is a very special day 💜

After waiting over 500 days, Pumpkin and Milo have finally been adopted together!

We were all waiting for this day and couldn’t be happier for them! Their wait was a long one, but it was so worth it since these two boys have found a forever family who will absolutely cherish them.

A huge thank you to Arthur Animal Rescue for saving Pumpkin and Milo from euthanasia and caring for them throughout their long wait. An especially huge thank you also goes to their incredibly dedicated foster home, who loved and cared for these boys for all this time. We truly couldn’t have asked for a better support system for them.

We’re so happy that Purrfect Seniors could play a role in making today possible by sponsoring their adoption fees and medications. Pumpkin and Milo faced several factors that can make finding a home more challenging — they’re seniors, they’re a pair, they require ongoing medications, and Milo is a black cat. Each of these can be a barrier to adoption, but they have officially found their forever family. We’re so happy to say that they made it! 🥹

We will be sure to share updates as the boys enjoy their new life. Happy forever, Pumpkin & Milo 💜

Star of the month: Indie ⭐️

Despite not being a senior, Indie played a role in the forming of Purrfect Seniors! Adopted as a kitten from the Nova Scotia SPCA in 2021 by Purrfect Seniors founders Hailey and Rhonda, Indie played a large role in their shared love of cats, passion for animal welfare, and inspiration for our organization. Indie turned 5 this past May. She now lives with Hailey, James, and her cat brother Frankie 💜

With the summer heat, our feline friends need help staying cool too! 🐈☀️

When temperatures rise, it's important to make sure they have plenty of fresh water, cool places to rest, and a comfortable environment to beat the heat.

It is also critical to know the signs of heatstroke in cats and seek veterinary care accordingly.

A few simple steps can go a long way in keeping your kitty safe and happy all summer long 🐾
