🌷 Happy Easter, Erin Mills South! 🐣

After what has felt like a long and cold winter, the Board of Directors of the Erin Mills South Residents Association would like to wish everyone a happy and restful Easter long weekend.

With warmer, spring-like weather hopefully just around the corner, we look forward to seeing neighbours and friends out and about again, kids in our parks, taking our dogs for longer walks on our trails and across our community.

Those everyday moments of connection, a friendly hello, kids playing outside, neighbours catching up, are what truly make Erin Mills South one of the best places to live in Mississauga.

Wishing you and your family a wonderful Easter weekend filled with joy, rest and time together. 🌼

— EMSRA Board of Directors 💙

Thank You to everyone who attended the EMSRA AGM.

A special thank you to Lauren Kinne from Safe City Mississauga, who provided an excellent overview of how Neighbourhood Watch programs work, how they help prevent crime, and how they can bring neighbours together to strengthen our community. We also learned the steps involved in starting a Neighbourhood Watch.

If you are interested in learning more or would like to find out whether a Neighbourhood Watch already exists in your area, please reach out to [email protected].

We also thank Councillor and Deputy Mayor Matt Mahoney for attending and sharing updates with residents, including:

• Update on the 4099 Erin Mills Parkway redevelopment
• Ideas to honour the late Stephen Biss
• Ravine and pathway remediation projects
• Road issues on Glen Erin Drive
• Updates on the South Common Community Centre
• 1959 Folkway Drive City purchase and plans

EMSRA exists because residents care about their neighbourhood. Your participation and support help ensure that Erin Mills South remains a strong, connected and engaged community.

Thank you again to everyone who joined us.

It is with profound sorrow that we share the passing of Stephen Biss.

Stephen was a dedicated community leader and played a pivotal role in the creation and early development of the Erin Mills South Residents Association (EMSRA). His commitment to neighbourhood engagement, thoughtful planning, and resident advocacy helped shape EMSRA into the strong community voice it is today. Stephen’s efforts laid a foundation that will continue to guide and inspire residents for years to come.

More importantly, Stephen was a neighbour, a collaborator, and a passionate advocate for the well-being of Erin Mills South. His thoughtful contributions to community life extended far beyond meetings and planning discussions; he helped strengthen our connections and foster a sense of shared purpose across the neighbourhoods he cared so deeply about.

Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with Stephen’s family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to know him. We honour his legacy and the positive impact he made within our community.

Rest in peace, Stephen.

We’re pleased to welcome Dawn Hatanaka as the newest board member of the Erin Mills South Residents Association! Dawn joined our organization earlier this year because she believes in the importance of active community involvement and wants to help make our neighbourhood an even better place to live.

Dawn will serve as our new Events Director, bringing fresh ideas and enthusiasm to EMSRA’s community programming.

“I’ve seen firsthand how residents’ associations can bring people together and create positive change,” Dawn shared. “I’m looking forward to gathering input from residents about what kinds of events and activities they’d like to see in our community.”

We’re excited to have Dawn’s energy and commitment on our team! Dawn has been busy submitting EMSRA’s application to be registered with the City of Mississauga, planning community events, writing and submitting funding grants and meeting with another Residents Association to see how they engage their community.

If you’d like to volunteer with Dawn on upcoming events or share ideas, please contact her at [email protected].
