STANDING IN SOLIDARITY WITH THE SIKH COMMUNITY

SacredHand Canada strongly condemns the violent attack at Nanaksar Gurdwara in Edmonton, where two worshippers were injured.

Places of worship must remain sacred and safe spaces where everyone can gather in peace and without fear. We stand with the victims, their families, the Nanaksar Gurdwara congregation and the wider Sikh community during this difficult time.

An act of violence against any community affects us all. Our prayers are with everyone impacted, and we wish those injured a full and speedy recovery.

On World Humanitarian Day, we pause to recognize the aid workers who show up when it matters most — the volunteers, coordinators, and partners on the ground who carry relief to those who need it.

This day also holds space for everyone affected by crisis around the world: families displaced, communities rebuilding, people simply trying to hold on to safety and dignity.

Alhamdulillah, our international partners stood beside us through Qurbani and other relief efforts this year, carrying SacredHand Canada's work to places we couldn't reach alone. 🤲

May their effort be counted for them, and may relief reach every hand it's meant to.

Three years ago, SacredHand Canada opened Zermeena's Place—a compassionate residence that provides seniors with more than just housing. It offers companionship, dignity, personalized care, and a true sense of belonging.

Named in honour of Zermeena Murtaza, our first donor and volunteer, the residence carries forward her legacy of selfless service and compassion for those facing hardship.

Today, Zermeena's Place continues to fill a critical gap in our community, ensuring our beloved elders can age with comfort, respect, and the care they deserve.

The Prophet ﷺ said:
""If a young person honours an elderly person because of their age, Allah will appoint someone to honour them in their old age."" (At-Tirmidhi)

A shocking fact that we should address: according to Statistics Canada, men in Canada are almost three times more likely to die by su***de than women.

That statistic isn't abstract. It touches brothers, fathers, uncles, and sons in our own community and too often, the support that might have changed the outcome simply wasn't there.

At SacredHand Canada, we're working to close that gap. A new space dedicated to caring for men is coming soon.

Rabi' al-Awwal is a time for many Muslims to reflect on the life, character, and teachings of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. As we deepen our understanding of his Seerah, we can strive to follow his example in our daily lives.

One beautiful Sunnah is fasting on Mondays and Thursdays. The Prophet ﷺ regularly observed these voluntary fasts, and when asked about fasting on Monday, heﷺ said ""On it (Monday), I was born, and on it revelation was sent down to me – (Sahih Muslim)

""Say, ˹O Prophet,˺ 'If you love Allah, then follow me; Allah will love you and forgive your sins. And Allah is All-Forgiving, Most Merciful.'"" — Surah Āl 'Imrān (3:31)
