Keep6ix

Keep6ix We work with at-risk, and oppressed, communities experiencing poverty and crime.

Keep6ix recognizes the lack of services and rehabilitative supports to prevent and reduce young people from coming into conflict with the Criminal Justice System.

Regret is a strange feeling—it doesn’t always hit right away. Sometimes it waits until the noise dies down, until the moment is over, and all you’re left with is your thoughts. That’s when you really start to understand the weight of what you did, and what it cost you.
A lot of people don’t think far enough ahead in the moment. Emotion, ego, pressure, or impulse can make a decision feel small when it’s actually big. But once it’s done, you can’t rewind it. You just have to live with the outcome and everything it changes.
That’s why thinking before acting isn’t just advice—it’s protection. A few seconds of patience can save you from years of consequences. Not every reaction deserves action, and not every opportunity is worth the risk.
Move with awareness. Slow down your decisions. Because once regret shows up, it’s not asking what you were feeling in the moment—it’s asking why you didn’t think it through.

Hearing someone describe what decades inside can do to a person’s sense of hope made me reflect on something deeper than any one case.

At what point does a system meant to correct behaviour start to remove the very thing that makes change possible?

We often talk about accountability and public safety—and those matters are non-negotiable. But there’s another layer that doesn’t get enough attention: what happens to a person’s mindset when there’s no clear end point, no sense that change could ever lead somewhere.

Over time, that kind of uncertainty doesn’t just affect how someone serves a sentence—it shapes how they see themselves. And once that shifts, rehabilitation becomes less about programs or opportunities, and more about whether the internal belief in change can even survive.

Rehabilitation isn’t just about time served or boxes checked. It’s also about whether a person still has a reason to engage with change in the first place.

None of this removes accountability or minimizes harm. But it does raise a difficult question about whether the structure of long-term sentencing always aligns with the outcomes we say we’re aiming for.

Having the opportunity to go into federal institutions and speak with men preparing for reintegration is always a humbling experience. Many are searching for a second chance, guidance, and hope for a better future.

Today’s discussion focused on overcoming trauma, addressing mental health, and understanding the importance of rebuilding their lives with purpose and accountability. Reintegration is not just about returning to society — it’s about healing, growth, and becoming productive members of the community again.

We all make mistakes in life, but with support, mentorship, and opportunity, transformation is possible. Thank you to everyone who continues to support this work and believes in second chances. Together, we can help break cycles and build stronger communities.

Too many youth are learning from the streets before they ever learn from someone who’s lived through them. We need more men who made it out to come back, guide, and show the next generation there’s a better path before it cost them their freedom, their family, or their life.

“The game is fake.”

Behind the image is pain, loss, trauma, and consequences people rarely talk about. Listen to those who lived it before repeating the cycle.

“Looking up to all the wrong people.”

A simple sentence, but one that carries years of consequences. The people around can either guide us toward purpose or pull us toward destruction

A child is gone. Another child’s life is changed forever.
When children become both victims and offenders, it’s not just crime—it’s a failure of prevention, guidance, and support.

If tragedy is what makes us notice, we’re already too late.
