Child sponsorship is when one sponsor is connected with one child. For $41 a month, the child is supported with his or her basic needs such as clean water, nutritious food, sanitation, medical treatments and health care, vaccines, schooling, job training, etc. Over 8,000 are currently sponsored and 1,800+ are waiting for sponsors. Food assistance is an area where we partner with the Canadian Foodgrains Bank. Major annual food aid projects ensure that hundreds of thousands of people receive life-saving food and also options to help communities provide food for themselves. Crisis Response is when ERDO reaches out to those affected by natural disasters, political conflict and chronic poverty. Our response would involve emergency aid, disaster recovery and training that enables people to be better prepared for future crises. As we work with communities in crisis we also offer spiritual and emotional support. Community Development is when we come alongside communities to build on their strengths and to assist them with sustainable solutions that respect their context and culture. Mutual transformation is a valued outcome. Clean water, microfinance for entrepreneurs and sustainable agricultural practices can make the difference in helping people to break the cycle of poverty and poor health.

📍In Marsabit County, Kenya, families who depend on livestock are facing growing pressure from drought, pasture loss, insecurity and limited access to markets.

ERDO, in partnership with Canadian Foodgrains Bank and a trusted local partner, is supporting 621 households with practical tools to strengthen food security and build more sustainable livelihoods.

Through climate-smart agriculture, livestock management, rainwater harvesting and women’s savings groups, families will be better equipped to withstand future challenges and create greater stability.

⚽ Meet Awakhiwe.

Awakhiwe is a bright young boy from Zimbabwe with big dreams for the future. His favourite subject at school is math, and when he grows up, he hopes to help his country.

After school, you'll often find him playing soccer with his friends or helping his grandmother with chores around the house.

His favourite Bible story is Noah's Ark, and if you asked him his favourite colour, he'd quickly tell you: red.

Awakhiwe now lives with his grandmother, brother and sister after his parents' whereabouts became unknown. His grandmother works hard to care for the family, but making ends meet can be difficult.

Through ChildCARE Plus, children like Awakhiwe will get to continue their education and grow in a supportive community as they discover their gifts.

"We didn't know how we would survive."

Living in rural Bangladesh, Fatema and her husband struggled to make ends meet through irregular day labour, often wondering how they would provide for their family. Opportunities were limited, and the future felt uncertain.

Through ERDO's local partners, Fatema became part of a women's community group where she gained new skills, built confidence, and discovered new opportunities to earn an income. T

Today, she runs a tailoring business from her home, helps manage her family's livestock, and plays an active leadership role in her community.

But Fatema's dream doesn't stop with her own success. She hopes to grow her work so that she can create opportunities for others and encourage more women to build brighter futures for themselves and their families.

"I have my own income, my own cattle and a stable life. I feel proud of how far we have come."

Fatema's story is just one example of how women are transforming their families and communities through opportunity, skills and support.

Children have big hearts. When they learn about the challenges others face around the world, they often want to help. They simply need opportunities to understand, ask questions and discover how God calls us to love our neighbours.

That's why ERDO created our new free children's curriculum for parents, teachers, pastors and caregivers! Each week invites children into scripture, helping them see that compassion, generosity and faith in action are part of what it means to follow Christ.

At its core, this curriculum carries a simple but powerful truth: when we love others, we are demonstrating our love for God.

From sponsored child to future leader. Jen-Jen grew up as part of ERDO’s ChildCARE Plus program in the Philippines where sponsorship helped give her access to education, encouragement and opportunities to grow.

Today, she is looking toward a future where she can use what she has learned to make a difference for others.

Jen-Jen’s story is a beautiful reminder that child sponsorship doesn’t just impact one child today. Its impact can continue for generations to come.

Here’s how ERDO and our partners are helping families affected by the wildfires in British Columbia.

Through ’s British Columbia and Yukon District, local churches are stepping in to support people who have had to leave their homes, often with very little notice.

In the South Okanagan, our partner is helping coordinate food donations and emergency food hampers for families who need them. Volunteers are also heading out into the community to find people staying in RVs, vehicles, motels and other temporary places, bringing food and essential supplies directly to them.

This practical care makes sure people who are already dealing with so much don’t also have to wonder where their next meal or basic supplies will come from.
