ERDO (Emergency Relief & Development Overseas)

ERDO (Emergency Relief & Development Overseas) Working with communities to end hunger
and poverty for 40 years. Nous travaillons avec les communautés pour mettre fin à la faim et à la pauvreté depuis 40 ans.

Child sponsorship is when one sponsor is connected with one child. For $41 a month, the child is supported with his or her basic needs such as clean water, nutritious food, sanitation, medical treatments and health care, vaccines, schooling, job training, etc. Over 8,000 are currently sponsored and 1,800+ are waiting for sponsors. Food assistance is an area where we partner with the Canadian Foodg

rains Bank. Major annual food aid projects ensure that hundreds of thousands of people receive life-saving food and also options to help communities provide food for themselves. Crisis Response is when ERDO reaches out to those affected by natural disasters, political conflict and chronic poverty. Our response would involve emergency aid, disaster recovery and training that enables people to be better prepared for future crises. As we work with communities in crisis we also offer spiritual and emotional support. Community Development is when we come alongside communities to build on their strengths and to assist them with sustainable solutions that respect their context and culture. Mutual transformation is a valued outcome. Clean water, microfinance for entrepreneurs and sustainable agricultural practices can make the difference in helping people to break the cycle of poverty and poor health.

In the days following Colombia’s devastating earthquake, families are beginning the difficult work of recovering.

For people whose homes and communities have been damaged, the needs are immediate. Families need food and shelter. People who have lived through the fear and loss of a major disaster need emotional and trauma support. Local responders also need the resources and logistical support required to reach affected communities with help.

ERDO is partnering with a trusted Global Worker in Colombia to respond directly to these needs.

Your gift to ERDO’s Colombia Earthquake Response will help provide:

• Food assistance for families affected by the earthquake
• Trauma care and support for people processing the impact of the disaster
• Logistical support to help our partner reach communities and deliver urgently needed assistance

When you give, you are helping trusted people already on the ground respond where the need is greatest and walk alongside families as they begin to rebuild.

Please consider making a gift today and sharing this response with others who may want to help.

When Hurricane Melissa struck Cuba, ERDO partnered with a trusted local ministry to provide emergency food to 600 people.
Now, we're expanding that response.

We will send a 40-foot container of emergency food to Cuba every two months for as long as the crisis continues. Each shipment will provide soup packets and other essential food items, helping hundreds of thousands—and sometimes more than one million—meals reach people in need.

Together, we can continue bringing practical help and the hope of Christ to families across Cuba.

Across British Columbia, wildfires continue to threaten communities, forcing thousands of people from their homes and prompting the province to declare a state of emergency. As evacuation orders remain in place, firefighters and emergency crews are working around the clock to protect affected communities.

For many families, there is now the uncertainty of waiting—wondering when they can return home and what they will find when they do.

ERDO is monitoring the situation closely and coordinating with our partners as needs are identified.

Please join us in praying for those who have been evacuated, families who have experienced loss, the firefighters and first responders working in difficult conditions and local churches and community organizations supporting people with shelter, meals and practical care.

We will be sharing more about ERDO’s response and how you can help soon.

A powerful 7.4-magnitude earthquake has struck western Colombia. Communities have been devastated, buildings have collapsed and search-and-rescue teams are continuing to look for people trapped beneath the rubble.

More than 200 people have died, and the full extent of the disaster is still still revealed.

ERDO is communicating with our partners in Colombia as they assess the situation and the immediate needs of affected communities. We will share more about ERDO’s response and how you can help in the coming days.

Today, we ask you to join us in prayer for Colombia.

Pray for families grieving loved ones, for those still waiting for news of family and friends, for local churches, community leaders and for the rescue workers searching for survivors.

Cuba is facing one of its most difficult humanitarian crises in decades.

Economic instability, ongoing shortages and damaged infrastructure have made daily life increasingly difficult for families across the country. Food is becoming harder to find, fuel shortages have disrupted essential services and many seniors and vulnerable families are struggling to meet even their most basic needs.

Hurricane Melissa made an already difficult situation even worse. Although the storm passed months ago, many communities are still recovering while another hurricane season is already underway.

For thousands of families, this isn't just a temporary emergency—it's an ongoing struggle to put food on the table.

That's why ERDO is partnering with trusted local churches to provide emergency food and practical support to people facing hunger. Together, we can help ensure families receive the care they need during this difficult time.

Juline was a ChildCARE Plus sponsored child in Haiti until she graduated from Grade 13. She always did well in school and studied hard.

After graduating, she began a program in the Faculty of Agronomy and Veterinary Medicine at the State University of Haiti. Her plan was to get a degree in agricultural engineering — a five-year program — but after 3 years of studying, she could not afford to finish.

Luckily, she found a full scholarship to study agronomy at one of the best universities in Latin America. She is now in school finishing her degree and studying Spanish at the same time.

Thanks to the strong foundation set by ChildCAREPlus sponsorship, Juline is on her way to changing her future!

Child sponsorship can open doors for a child that will last a lifetime.

For Shadreck, farming is more than a lifeline and a way to provide for his family.

A husband and father of four in Zambia, Shadreck has been part of ERDO's farmer field school since the beginning. Through training in climate-smart agriculture, he has learned new techniques for land preparation, planting and sustainable farming that can help strengthen his harvests and build resilience for the future.

By equipping farmers with practical skills and knowledge, ERDO and our local partners are helping communities adapt to changing conditions and create more sustainable livelihoods.
