The Chronology of Yahushua The Messiah's Crucifixion and Resurrection. Yahushua's Crucifixion was NOT on Friday.
Many are deceived about Yahushua's death and resurrection. Did He die on so-called “Good Friday” and rise on “Easter Sunday”? The Scriptures said He would be in the grave for “three days and three nights". There is no way to get three days and three nights from
Friday evening to Sunday morning. The key to understanding the chronology of the events leading up to and including Yahushua's crucifixion and resurrection is that there were two Sabbaths in that week, with a day of preparation between them.
TUESDAY Yahushua ate an evening Passover meal with His disciples (at the beginning of Nisan 14) and instituted the New Covenant symbols (Matthew 26:26-28). Yahushua was then betrayed by Judas, arrested and during the night brought before the high priest.
WEDNESDAY: Yahushua was crucified and died. (Matthew 27:46-50). This was the preparation day for the annual, not weekly, Sabbath, which began at sunset (Mark 15:42; Luke 23:54; John 19:31). Yahushua's body was placed in the tomb at twilight (Matthew 27:57-60).
THURSDAY: This was the high-day Sabbath, the first day of Unleavened Bread (John 19:31; Leviticus 23:4-7). It is described as the day after the Day of Preparation (Matthew 27:62).
FRIDAY: The high day Sabbath now past, the women bought and prepared spices for anointing Yahushua's body before resting on the weekly Sabbath day, (Mark 16:1; Luke 23:56).
SATURDAY: The women rested on the weekly Sabbath, according to the Fourth Commandment (Luke 23:56; Exodus 20:8-11). Yahushua rose just before sunset, exactly three days and three nights
(72 hours) after burial, fulfilling the sign of Jonah and uthenticating
Yahushua's Messiyahship.
SUNDAY: The women brought the prepared spices early in the morning while it was still dark (Luke 24:1; John 20:1). Yahushua had already risen (Matthew 28:1-6; Mark 16:2-6; Luke 24:2-3;
John 20:1).
He did not rise on Sunday morning, but just prior to sunset on the 7th day weekly sabbath.
